In a childrens home with twenty two kidsyou would think it would be hard to

co-ordinate the kids and yes definitely attimes it can be! It can be loud and busy butone thing I have noticed is how well the

kids can work together! I love it when I

see little things that matter like when theolder children take the lead and help to co-

ordinate the younger children when thereis so many other things going on aroundthem like when the pig pen needs to becleaned out and there are 4 boys all in

there helping Chai or at night when

everyone needs to brush their teeth and a10yr old is making sure everyone has the

right amount of toothpaste! Its the littlethings that make a huge difference in ahome of 22!

Thailand as many of you have heard is

hot, hot, hot so a trip to the pool isalways fun and exciting. Here are a few

photos from the pool and the fun times wehad! Many of the children at Baan Jai Dee

can definitely be described as fish andtheir swimming skills amaze me.

    Mothers Day

Mothers Day in Thailand was held in August and it was such an amazing

experience. We think children in Australia go all out for Mothers day andthis was steps up from that! The children sent Sam to her room all afternoon

and she was strictly told not to come down stairs. That is when themasterpiece started. The children all worked together to hand make

decorations and transform the lounge room. The older kids have been working for weeks to teach the kids mothers day

songs and organise colouring competitions for the other children toparticipate in. The children sat Sam down and all came in and Wai-ed

(hands together and bow) Sam. This looked like the scene out of The Kingand I where the children great the teacher for the first time! The kids then

went on to give Sam and Allan flower head pieces they had made and put ona show, they even learnt Que Sera Sera in English for this special day.

    MY PARENTS CAME TO THAILAND!!

Sorry got a little excited there!

In June my amazing parents finally got the

chance to come and visit Thailand andexperience the wonderful culture first hand! Itwas short notice and within 3 weeks of mefinding out they were coming I was waiting at the

    airport.

Its a weird feeling living in a different country.

You try not to think of home too often as it cansometimes just be too hard, so I didnt realise

how much I missed my parents until they walked

through the terminal at the airport and then all the

emotions started flooding and so did the tears!(Happy tears of course).

The week my parents were here was a realchance for me to look at Chiang Mai andThailand in a different light; a week to be a

tourist was really nice. We were able to do the

typical things like go to a Thai cooking class and

I was able to walk around the markets with my

Mum and Dad and explore its little memories thatmake a huge impact!

One of the best things was being able to see myparents experience things for the first time. I got

to see my Dad ride an elephant for the first time,

get his feet nibbled at by little fish (gross I

know!) and ride standing on the back of a

Songtaow (a Thai taxi), watching his face waspriceless and my smile was as wide as his! My

Mum just loved the Thai culture. It wasawesome to have one of my best friends by my

side to experience part of this journey with me; to

watch her face as I barter in front of them for the

first time in my broken Thai or to see how

excited she got when she was able to explore a

caf by herself and actually get edible food, even

when she was asking everyone how to say

nerng (the number one) in Thai just so she

could master it (embarrassing but hilarious!)It was an amazing week and God definitely knew

when I needed a visit from home and made ithappen!!

    Prayer Points

    - Some of you may already know that Sam

and Allan who are the founders and directorsof Baan Jai Dee are going back to Australia

for a few months which will leave me in

charge of the general running of Baan JaiDee for 3 months. Sam and Allan havetaught me very well and are always a phone

call away but I would ask that you pleasepray for the wisdom to get through different

challenges with the kids and for a lot of

energy. Thailand is so hot that doing the

simplest of tasks can make you exhausted.

    - Allan, Sam and Jody have safe travels toAustralia

    - Cocos Visa

    - English class, motivation and ideas for me

in teaching and the ability for the kids to

    focus.

    - One of our children has been having a hardtime following instructions and many of the

    usual strategies havent been working.

Please pray for her and that I will have thepatience to understand her and come up withideas to make her feel more comfortable and

    in control of her emotions.

Many of you know some of the children from Baan Jai Dee from

their smiling faces on newsletters, blogs and Facebook and now

we are organising to give one of the children a chance to come

    and explore Australia!

Specifically we are trying to obtain a visa for Coco our beautiful,

    cheeky, smiley, energetic girl.

When I spoke to Coco about maybe travelling to Australia and

visiting the zoo she started hopping around like a Kangaroo.

There are still many things that need to be done between now

and reaching Australia. We need your prayers!! We have a lot of

paperwork to do which means legal translations and trying to

navigate the legal procedures in Thailand which are very different

    to Australia or the USA.

    We need your help

Of course we need your prayers but we also

have a special fund set up to bring Coco to

Australia which will not only thrill her but

we hope she will bless others.

Donations to the Australia visit may

be made to A/S Schmidt. BSB 063504.
