PRINCIPAL’S NEWS
Newsletter/Banking Day Change
We will be moving our newsletter day and banking day to Mondays starting in
Week 9 due to a change in office days for Ms Atkins. The next newsletter and
banking day will be Monday, 23rd March and will continue each Monday from
then.
Zone Swimming
Well done to all students who participated last Friday at
the Zone Swimming Carnival, it was another example of
Somersby PS students ‘giving it a go.’
Special mention to the following students for their overall
achievements: Sienna (Runner-up Junior Girls Champion),
Roxy (9th Junior Girls Champion), Lucy (5th Senior Girls
Champion). Our school came 10th overall on the day, well
done!
A big congratulations to Sienna and Lucy who have
qualified for the Sydney North carnival to be held on
March, 27th at Olympic Park – what an achievement!
Building Update
It was an extremely exciting day here at SPS on Tuesday when 2/3/4 finally got to
move into their new classroom! A brand new interactive panel has been
installed, WiFi hooked up, new furniture put in place and it’s been exciting
watching the class settle into their new room!
The hall is now also complete with the handrail installed on the ramp to the
stage and we can’t wait to show it off next Friday at our assembly, starting at
2pm. All are welcome to attend.
We have also had the trees removed that fell down in the storm – which has left
us with lots of happy little mulchers who are ready to get our gardens looking
wonderful again!

Our annual school photo day will be held on Monday, 30th March. Photos
envelopes will be sent home on Monday, 23rd and are to be returned on the day
of the photos.

Year 7 2021 Expression of Interest
Last week the EOI’s were sent home to year 6 students for high school next year.
These are due to be returned by Friday, 20th March.

Harmony Day
Each year schools across the country are invited to take part in Harmony Week, a
week in which we celebrate Australia’s cultural diversity. It’s about inclusiveness,
respect and a sense of belonging for everyone. This year we will be celebrating on
Tuesday, 17th of March and look forward to our students learning more about
other cultures and the positives that come from them.
Band Instruments If your child was involved in the band in past years and has not returned their instrument could you please ensure they come back to school so we can complete our stocktake.
Easter Raffle The P&C’s Easter Raffle will be held again this year. Donations are being taken in the office with a ‘Somersbee’ award received for each donation. Thanking you in advance.
Thank You A big thanks to the Towne family who have kindly donated plants to go in the garden in front our new demountable, it is very generous and we greatly appreciate it!

P&C NEWS Bunnings BBQ We will be holding a BBQ fundraiser at Bunnings West Gosford from 12pm to 6pm on ANZAC Day, Saturday 25th April. Parent volunteers are needed to help cook and serve. A roster will be sent home on Monday 23rd March. Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated!
Funds raised will directly benefit all students at Somersby PS.
