HYMN OF PRAISE
Lift Every Voice and Sing
James Weldon Johnson
Lift every voice and sing, till earth and Heaven ring,
Ring with the harmonies of liberty;
Let our rejoicing rise, high as the listening skies,
Let it resound loud as the rolling sea.
Sing a song full of the faith that the dark past has taught us,
Sing a song full of the hope that the present has brought us;
Facing the rising sun of our new day begun,
Let us march on till victory is won.
Stony the road we trod, bitter the chastening rod,
Felt in the days when hope unborn had died;
Yet with a steady beat, have not our weary feet,
Come to the place for which our fathers sighed?
We have come over a way that with tears has been watered,
We have come, treading our path through the blood of the slaughtered;
Out from the gloomy past, till now we stand at last
Where the white gleam of our bright star is cast.
God of our weary years, God of our silent tears,
Thou Who hast brought us thus far on the way;
Thou Who hast by Thy might, led us into the light,
Keep us forever in the path, we pray.
Lest our feet stray from the places, our God, where we met Thee.
Lest our hearts, drunk with the wine of the world, we forget Thee.
Shadowed beneath Thy hand, may we forever stand,
True to our God, true to our native land.

Offertory Prayer
Heavenly Father, we affirm that this is Your world and we are tenants here.
We acknowledge that life does not consist of just the abundance of
possessions. Help us to focus on You, our families and our church. Please
accept our tithes, mission gifts and sacrificial offerings as an expression of
our love. Use them to bless our fellowship and extend the Kingdom of God.
Thank You for Your grace and Your patience towards us. Thank You for the
privilege of serving You through the church. We love and we adore You.
This is our prayer in Jesus' name. Amen.
“Therefore, my beloved, be steadfast, immovable, always excelling in the
work of the Lord, because you know that in the Lord your labor is not in
vain.” 1 Corinthians 15:58

FROM THE DESK OF REV. CARNEL RICHARDSON
Beloved New Prospect Missionary Baptist Church Family, Today is our annual Installation of Officers Sunday. Today, the leaders of this church will publicly affirm their commitment to scrupulously and valiantly lead God’s people in this local church context for the year 2018. Moreover, these mission-minded leaders will accept the charge of serving as ambassadors of God’s love, reconciliation, righteousness, and redemptive message through this church. The leaders of this church need your prayers and encouragement throughout this year as they strive to execute the missio-Dei (the mission of God). Please pray that these leaders do not “become weary in well-doing” (Galatians 6:9). Pray that these leaders cling to the Cross of Jesus for strength in every moment, decision, and action. This local ecclesia known as the New Prospect Missionary Baptist Church has bright days ahead of it, but victory will only be achieved through united and collective efforts. Let us embrace this new year of ministry with the light of faith, the hope that is found in love, and the strength that is found is ceaseless prayer for one another. With Faith, Hope and Love in View,
Rev. Carnel H.L. Richardson Lead Pastoral Minister

Lincoln Motion Picture Company (1916-1921)
African American audiences were generally ignored by the major motion picture studios in the first two decades of the 20th Century. Nonetheless, demand for films aimed at black theaters in both the South and larger Northern cities prompted the formation of several “black” motion picture production companies
The Lincoln Motion Picture Company in Omaha, Nebraska is considered to be the first all-black movie production unit in
the country. Its entire output was aimed directly at African American viewers. It was founded in 1916 by brothers Noble and George Johnson. Noble Johnson was president of the company, the secretary was actor Clarence A. Brooks, Dr. James T. Smith was treasurer, and Dudley A. Brooks was assistant secretary.
The company soon relocated to Los Angeles and made and distributed five films, which were generally limited to “special showings” for African Americans in churches and small assembly halls. By 1920 the Lincoln Company had completed five films, two pictorial and three dramatic subjects, including a five-reel feature titled “A Man's Duty “(released September, 1919).
However, production expenses and minimal sales limited their ability to create additional films. As a result, the brothers went their separate ways. Their lack of long-term success, however, was only prologue to a burst of activity by small, all-African-American, film-makers that would grow enormously by the mid-1940, when literally hundreds of movies (from musical featurettes to longer films) would proliferate not only in southern locations but also in larger northern cities.
Although the Lincoln Motion Picture Company did not last long, it was influential in the African American community. The Lincoln Motion Picture Company inspired the movement of more ethnic movie companies. Noble M. Johnson (1881–1978), continued his acting career and appeared in more than 140 movies from 1915–1950.
