A Note from Your Pastor…...
Sermon Direction & Discipleship for July 2013
Volume 6 Issue 7
July 2013
Dear Brothers and Sisters,
Someone asked me, “Why do you teach a Bible Study class of 2-4 persons at the Veter-an’s home each Tuesday?” They were not being critical, but they wondered why I volunteered so
quickly. Let me share with you a few reasons why I volunteered:
1. Jesus commanded us to go make disciples (Matthew 28).
2. Jesus said if you love me you will obey my commandments.
3. I love the Lord & want to be a cheerful giver of my time.
4. These veterans volunteered their lives for me when they served the country during
peace and war times. We should joyfully give back!
5. The greatest veteran of all time, Jesus, gave His life and time so that we might be free from destruction and so that we might be free to live. In Hebrews 12:2, we find
that Jesus joyfully went to the cross for us!
I figure, if the Lord can do that for me, and He used veterans to keep the country free so I can do ministry, then I should joyfully volunteer for service in God’s Kingdom! No gripes or com-plaints because I get to share the Gospel of Jesus! You can too!
Over the next few weeks, the Lord needs for His church to joyfully volunteer for service in
many areas. Here are a few ministries to pray about:
Children’s Extended Care Sunday School Teachers
Children’s Church AM Small Group/Discipleship Teachers
Visitation Ministry JOY Club Organizers (check SS folders in July)
And many other areas too!
Get involved and know that He, Jesus, is counting on you!
Walking in His Joyful Love, Bro. Paul

Musical Moments with Laurie
America, America, God shed His grace on Thee! Let’s just leave the song phrase right
there. In my opinion, we need God’s grace more now than ever before. Here are a few
staggering facts that shows why we need God’s grace.
There are approximately 12 million crimes committed in the United States every single
year. That is by far the worst in the world. No other nation has more than about 6 million re-
ported crimes per year.
There are over 100,000 rapes in the United States every single year. That is the highest num-
ber for any of the countries in the United Nations.
The total number of abortions in the United States since 1973-2009 is 52,008,665. Now the
government is allowing teenagers over the counter abortion pills without the consent of their
parents, but the same teenager cannot buy cold medicine without their parents.
There are lies upon lies and cover-ups coming from some of our government leaders about
very important matters.
America’s work force must labor for about the first third of the year just to cover the govern-
ment’s expenses, before they start taking home a single penny for themselves.
Every year 3.3 million reports of child abuse are made in the United States involving nearly 6
million children (a report can include multiple children). The United States has the worst rec-
ord in the industrialized nation – losing five children every day due to abuse-related deaths.
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, approximately one out of every six Americans is now
living in poverty. The number of Americans living in poverty is now at a level not seen since
the 1960s.
To be very honest, I could keep on listing statistics on the problems we face in America,
but it is so depressing. I LOVE America with all my heart, and do proudly stand up for
Her, but I see more now than ever before that we need God’s grace. We have messed up
a good thing, but all is not lost. Thank You, God, for your grace. Thank You, God, for
Your hope! Thank You, God for not giving up on us.
It makes me feel more at ease to know that God is still in control, and that God will never
leave or forsake those who trust Him as their Lord and Savior. (Hebrews 13:5)
Singing for the King,
Laurie!
Anyone who did not get their picture made, will have the opportunity on July 14th, immediately after the morning worship in the FLC Gym, on the stage. Please come ready
