Welcome! On behalf of the Affordable Housing Management Association of Washington (AHMA of Wa) and the Affordable Rural Housing Council (ARHC), we are honored and delighted to welcome you to the 2018 Washington Affordable Housing Management Conven-tion.
The theme of the convention is “Building Bridges: Turning vision into action.” In addition to exceptional keynote speakers, Steve Beck, Timothy Dawes, Megan Johnson and Larry Johnson, the convention program will broadly cover all disciplines of affordable housing management. This year we are also kicking up the energy by bringing back Troy McVicker to serve as our convention master of ceremonies.
Both AHMA of WA and ARHC conduct important organizational business at the convention, including holding their annual meetings and electing their Board of Directors.
The Convention offers plenty of networking opportunities, providing you with the opportunity to meet and interact with the leading experts in affordable housing, friends and colleagues as well as sponsors and exhibitors.
We would like to express our sincere appreciation to all the participants, sponsors, exhibitors, supporting organizations and all the committee members who will make the Washington Affordable Housing Management Convention successful.

Get ready for an exhilarating lunch that includes opportunities to network, and hear from a motivating speaker.Customer experience problems don’t start and end with upset customers. Every interaction moves them toward either conflict or rapport. And a lack of empathy doesn’t just weigh on customers. Service staff burn out quickly working with customers who regularly feel they need to head off bad customer service by subtly asserting power and coercion. But giving empathy doesn’t have to mean making costly concessions or putting your company at legal risk taking blame for bad situations. Your staff can learn to acknowledge your customers’ internal experience, to demonstrate that service staff hear customers and take them seriously without giving up power or falling into the trap of saying customers are always right or know better.
