Product Description and ApplicationThe Siemens vacuum starter pump controllers are designedfor the harshest environments. Typical environments includechemical, petrochemical, waste water treatment and mining.Contaminations present in these severe environments aredetrimental to conventional air-break contacts decreasingtheir life expectancy and reliability. The Siemens vacuum starterpump controllers are well suited for these environments becausethe contacts are contained in hermetically sealed contact tubes.This prevents contaminates in the atmosphere from affectingthe operation of the contacts. Additionally, neither arcs norarcing gases are produced which dramatically increases theelectrical endurance of the contacts.

Class 88 NEMA Reduced Voltage Pump Control Panels
Product Description and ApplicationThe Siemens reduced voltage starter pump controllers aredesigned for the same applications and environments theClass 87 full voltage starter pump controllers serve. However,these controllers provide added protection for you equipment.
When energized, full-voltage starters can cause excessive pressuresurges in centrifugal pumping systems. These pressure surgesinduce stress in the piping which causes water hammering.Even worse than the noise produced from the water hammeringis the equipment damage that pressure surges may cause.This damage can include, among other things, ruptured pipes,loosened or broken pipe supports and damaged valves. TheSiemens NEMA reduced voltage pump controllers are designedto reduce damage to your equipment. This is accomplished bystepping up the motor speed and thus reducing starting torque.A second reason for using reduced voltage controllers is tocomply with electrical current restrictions of utility companies.
Siemens manufactures the three commonly used NEMAreduced voltage pump controllers. This consists of the autotransformer, wye-delta and part-winding starters. Each typeof starter is designed for specific application requirements.In addition to reducing starting torque, they also reduce inrushcurrent and provide smoother acceleration of the pump.

Class 83 and Class 84 NEMA Duplex Motor Controllers
Product Description and ApplicationThe Siemens duplex motor controllers are specifically designedfor industrial and commercial applications that require duplexcontrols such as duel pumps or blowers. They are built towithstand demanding environments found both indoors andoutdoors. Duplex motor controllers consists of two motor startersin a common enclosure. Class 83 is a non-combination duplexmotor controller. Class 84 is a combination duplex motorcontroller with two separate disconnects or circuit breakers.
The Siemens duplex motor controllers are designed to performone or both of two distinct functions: duplexing and alternation.The duplexing function provides capacity for system peaking orabove normal demand without having both motors running atall times. It also provides standby capacity for use when oneof the motors is disabled. The alternation function reversesthe lead and lag mode for the two motors in a duplex system.Upon alternation the first motor becomes the lag motor and
the second motor assumes the lead function. The alternationis usually programmed to occur at any time both motors cometo rest. The alternation function equalizes wear on the twomachines and extends the life of seals and bearings.

Class 958L Oil Field Solid State Overload Relays
In addition to the standard ESP100 solid state overload for generalapplications, Siemens also offers an exclusive solid state overload
for the oil market. The 958L is designed specifically for the oilmarket and the cyclical loads experienced with these typesof pumping applications. These overloads provide superiorprotection on all standard motors, oil well pump motors, multi-torque connections, and ultra-high slip motors. Rotors can bedamaged in 8 to 15 seconds during motor stall conditions ifelectrical power is not removed. To prevent damage duringmotor stall, the 958L solid-state overload removes power in7 seconds at 250% locked rotor current. Therefore, die cast orfabricated rotors will be protected from damage saving youboth time and money.
