Kura Tuatahi o Whakatu – Greetings to friends and  family of Nelson Central School.

Teachers are always looking for ways to help childrenenjoy their learning. This week Room 6 children took onthe challenge of using all the words from their spelling list

in an imaginative way - they chose to writ e a story! Here

is a small sample of what they did.

“Once upon a time there was a boy called Mitchell. In his

dreams he had the ability to play for Manchester United.

His appearance was going to be with a collection of super stars. On the way to England they saw a gorilla sitting on

an iceberg dyeing his hair blonde while singing a verse of

‘Mamma Mia’ and playing a triangle but looking very

bored.Mitchell was the only one to see the gorilla because it wasdawn and the majority of passengers were still in bed

drinking tea and other refreshments”.

In the end his dream came true.” (Tayla)

“Once upon a time down in the South Pole lived a gorilla

that had a co llect ion of triangles. The majority of people

were bored so the gorilla started dyeing the iceberg green. The next morning everyone had the ability to get up at

dawn and sang one verse of Bad Hair Day. After they sang

they had refreshments. Even the gorilla had cola for

refreshment s.” (David)Reminder - ICAS EntriesEntries for Computer Skills and Science have closed butit’s not too late to enroll for other tests.
