About QCAT

• QCAT actively resolve disputes and make decisions about certain matters.

• The local Magistrates Court is the first point of contact for suburban Brisbane and non‐Brisbane QCAT clients.

• Approximately 30,000 applications lodged annually.

• QCAT is not a court.

QCAT has jurisdiction to decide any matters under the Neighbourhood Disputes Resolution Act 2011 in relation to tree and fence disputes.

Pool fences

• The Neighbourhood Disputes 

Resolution Act 2011 does not apply to pool fences.

• New Pool Fencing laws apply ‐Building Act 1975 amended (insertion of ss.245XA to 245XZ).

• the purposes for which the two parcels of land are used, or intended to be used
