The Neighbourhood Challenge is designed to show how people, when equipped with the right skills and small amounts of financial support, can work together to find imaginative ways of tackling issues that are important in their neighbourhood. The programme is run by National Endowment for Science, Technology and the Arts (NESTA) with support from the Big Lottery Fund. Just a few ways you can join the Challenge

Shiregreen’s Cooking At The Hub’s new community kitchen join us for ‘Jamie Oliver Ministry of Food’ cooking sessions. Join our ‘Dinner Swap’ group that lets you trade meals with your neighbours. Or just lend a hand in our community cafe.

Shiregreen Dragons’ Den Budding entrepreneurs and community campaigners are invited to enter a Dragon’s Den-style challenge to win support for their ideas to benefit the neighbourhood.

Shiregreen’s Got Talent Share your talents at our community festivals or get help to host your own talent event in Shiregreen.

Shiregreen Make and Mend Join our arts and crafts groups. If you are thinking of starting your own group, we can help you find the space and equipment.

Shiregreen Share and Swap Spend less but gain more by sharing and swapping items. We will help you find the space to hold your own swap and share event.

Shiregreen Goes Green Join our Gardening Interest group if you are interested in gardening, growing your own food or need some green-fingered help or advice.

Shiregreen News Get involved in developing a local website and newspaper to help promote local activities and businesses.

Nominate a Neighbour To celebrate and reward neighbourliness we want to know if you have a neighbour that goes the extra mile for you.
