Sensitizing Extension Professionals for Successful Livestock Farming Models to develop Aatmnirbhar Kisan Inauguration National Webinar 19-20 th Feb, 2021 About the Webinar ICAR-ATARIs, KVKs and NABARD are engaged in the social upliftment through extension services and providing opportunities to the farmers through training, demonstration and adoption of technological interventions for improved productivity and sustainable livelihood. Livestock husbandry contributes 4.11% of National GDP and 25.6% of Agriculture GDP of the country and has been instrumental in transforming the rural economy. It has made the country highest producer of milk and egg in the world, besides creating direct and indirect employment opportunities for millions of farmers. Enhanced productivity in the sector has resulted in overall improvement of the human health by making available high protein diet in the form of animal proteins. The ambitious goal of doubling farmers’ income might become a reality in record time with the active involvement of extension functionaries in creating awareness and encouraging setting up of livestock farming, processing and marketing units. Keeping this in view, the present webinar “Sensitizing Extension Professionals for Successful Livestock Farming Models to develop Aatmnirbhar Kisan” has been planned. This will provide opportunity to the extension fraternity to gain from the experiences of eminent experts, which in turn will be instrumental in transforming the rural economy.
