Mail Inventory & Predictive Workloads
• near real-time visibility of a facility’s on-hand volume, delayed processing volume, delayed dispatch volume, and oldest mail date by mail category and processing operation, and stores historical trailer information.
• Simplifies mail conditions - All mail shape, class, and categories are applicable to all conditions
• repository for information related to facility conditions
• daily snapshot of conditions at facilities is taken at the time of day mail volume is at its lowest
• information relating to conditions at that time, as well as prior day's processing
Mail Condition Visualization
• review actual runs compared to RPG plans in near real-time
• supervisors can see sort plans that are behind schedule and proactively adjust mail processing to meet service
• actual runs compared to RPG plans in webEOR after the run has ended
• adjustments made for next day
Performance to Plan
• create inbound volume arrival profiles in near real-time using Surface Visibility scanning to associate volume, mail class and mail type to actual trip arrivals
• allows supervisors to efficiently schedule resources
• manual observations over multiple days on inbound dock record time, volume, mail class and mail type
• used for creating a volume arrival profile in Excel
Incoming Inventory
• near real-time using Surface Visibility scanning
• allows supervisors to see mail that is awaiting unload and identify the wait time and unload metrics of trailers
• manual walks into facility yard to count trailers awaiting unload
• check what mail is inside, without knowledge of when that mail arrived or average unloading metrics

An inventory of mailpieces to be delivered is created based on the Last Processing Operation.
A Logical Delivery Event is generated for mailpieces within the ZIP+4, that have an “Anticipated Date of Delivery” of today. This data is then
sent to IV.IV provisions the Logical Delivery Events to mailers.
1
Based on geo breadcrumbs, it is determined when a carrier enters a ZIP+4 geo fence.
3
The “Anticipated Date of Delivery” is created by comparing the scan time to the operation’s clearance time.

Mail Tracking & ReportingOne-Time Query
The One-Time Query provides a means to retrieve data and apply specific filters to answer the question: “Where’s my mail?”
The One-Time Query functionality provides up to 120 days of historical data and can be queried for a 14-day date range with each request.
Contact the IV Solutions Center at [email protected] 1 (800) 238-3150 (option 2).
Mail Tracking & ReportingEase of Use
How can IV help those mailers who want to know high-level information about their mail without having to download potentially gigabytes of data?
The IV-MTR One-Time Query can help. By request, USPS can provide a simple spreadsheet with pivot tables to offer insight into a single mailing with less than 1 million scan records (Microsoft Excel record constraint) to answer the 3 questions that are most frequently asked:
1. Has the USPS accepted my mail?2. Has the USPS started to process my mail?3. Is my mail being delivered?
NOTE: This spreadsheet is meant as an introduction to the power and value of IV-MTR data. If something more than high level Information is needed, many
resources are available. We suggest getting involved in MTAC User Group 4 to explore those resources. Contact the IV Solutions Center for information.
