Special for our classical music listeners, WKAR's Peter Whorf features selections from a "New Release of the Month" each week during "What's New on WKAR" (Fridays at 2pm, Saturdays noon on 90.5). For May, Peter's pick is "Testament: Complete Sonatas and Partitas for Solo Violin" (Avie) from Rachel Barton Pine. Jody Knol and Jamie Paisley also feature the new release during 90.5 Classical weekdays throughout the month.
STOP BY OR LISTEN IN! Current State will be broadcasting live on 90.5 from the East Lansing Art Festival 11am-1pm on Saturday, May 21. The festival kicks off 7pm Friday, May 20 and runs through 5pm Sunday, May 22.
FLINT SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA WKAR enters a new partnership with the Flint Symphony Orchestra, premiering a regular series of recorded concert broadcasts on Sunday, May 1 at 2pm.
These concerts will be the first broadcasts of the Flint Symphony on WKAR. WKAR's Current State has been providing news of Flint Symphony events this season with arts reporter and classical music host Jaime Paisley with FSO music director Enrique Diemecke. Jamie will continue to update Flint Symphony and other Flint music and cultural events on Current State.
WKAR broadcasts begin with concerts from the 2015/2016 season and will later explore performances from past FSO seasons.
