The PEPH Resource Center:A New, More Convenient Login

This presentation will describe how to set up and use the
Resource Center’s new login.
All of the information is on the slides.
You will not hear any audio.

What is the PEPH Resource Center?
• It is a repository/library of environmental health materials.
• It was launched in 2010.
• It has over 500 subscribers.
• It has over 300 materials created by NIEHS grantees and partners.

What are some of the recent updates?
• Users can “Like” and comment on materials.
• Users can note their expertise on their profiles.
• Users can manage their e-mail notifications.
• The homepage now includes:
– Recently added materials
– Trending materials
– Most liked materials
• Users have new login options!

What are the login options?
• NIHEXT Account:This is the original login method. If it works for you, then you can keep using it.
• OpenID:This lets you log in with your Google, PayPal, or VeriSign account.
• Federated University E-mail:Log in with your university e-mail address. (You must belong to a federated university.)

What are the benefits of the new login methods?
• You can use a username and password that you already have.
• You do not need to remember yet another password.
• You do not need to update your password every 60 days.

How do you change to an OpenID or Federated Login?
It’s easy!

Step 1: Log in with your NIH/NIHEXT account.
• Select “NIH Staff” from the “Account Type” dropdown list.
• Enter your username and password.
• Remember: You do not need to add NIH\ or NIHEXT\ to your username.

Step 2: Click on your name.

Step 3: Click “Change account” on the UserProfile page.

Step 4. Enter your new information.
• Select your Account Type (e.g., OpenID, Federated University).
• Select your Domain (e.g., Google, your university).
• Enter your e-mail.

While changing your login, you also can…
• Add a profile picture.
• Request an affiliation change.
• Add your expertise.
• Update your e-mail notifications.

Step 5: Continue browsing the Resource Center

How do you log out of the Resource Center?
• You have to close your browser.
• Some browsers also require that you delete your cookies.
• When you log in again, you can use your new login method!

On the homepage, click on the “Log in now”link.

Select your Account Type.

If you are using your NIH/NIHEXT login, justenter your username and password, as before.
