Artist Statement:

My thoughts are

c h a o t i c,

loud

& never

ending.

The series Arranging Chaos is a visual representation documenting the stream of

conscious and unconscious thoughts that can occur in internal monologues. The

inspiration for this work is drawn from everyday life, dreams and imagination to

produce line drawings and paintings that create their own narratives to become

reflections of this inner experience.

Starting non-objectively, quickly putting marks in space allows the unconscious

thought to lay the foundation to a spontaneous composition. With line and marks

balancing between blind contour, abstraction, and reality, I respond to these

ambiguous forms as they unfold indirectly on the page.

Through using my subconscious as a tool for reference I invite viewers to complete

the illustrations through connections to the work based on their own inner thought,

feeling and memory. Arranging Chaos ultimately illustrates the spontaneous

thinking that occurs throughout the day and how our thoughts flow into a network

of new thoughts.
