Hello Everyone! The AGA year will
soon be coming to an end. It was
with mixed emotions that I passed
the gavel into the capable hands of
Angela McElrath-Prosser at the May
luncheon. While I feel that we have
accomplished the goals we set for
the 2015-2016 year, I will miss work-
ing closely with the chapter execu-
tive committee and the committee
chairs. I have served in many roles in
AGA including secretary, treasurer,
and meeting and attendance co-chair
and thought I had an understanding
of all the inner workings of the or-
ganization. However, serving as pres-
ident has given me an even better
appreciation of what it takes to make
this chapter so successful.
As a testament to that success, I was
recently notified that the chapter will
receive both the Education and
CGFM awards at the National Profes-
sional Development Training in Ana-
heim, California in July. Congratula-
tions to these committees for a job
well done. The CGFM committee
provided incentives to members to
pursue their certification as well as
obtaining proclamations from the
State of Tennessee and Metro Nash-
ville Davidson County declaring
March as CGFM month. The educa-
tion committee hosted a very suc-
cessful Winter Seminar and Fall
Breakfast as well as several webi-
nars.
The community service committee
had a successful year providing sup-
port for over ten local charities.
Thanks to the meetings and attend-
ance committee for coordinating the
monthly luncheons and to the mem-
bership committee for promoting the
benefits of AGA. The program com-
mittee provided informative lunch-
eon speakers and hosted a fun gath-
ering at the ball park. An early ca-
reers social offered lively conversa-
tion and cornhole. The web com-
mittee and finance committee also
executed their responsibilities admi-
rably. What a great year!
As I expressed at the awards lunch-
eon, it is not only those in leadership
roles that make this chapter so suc-
cessful. It is also each member who
supports the organization by attend-
ing the monthly meetings and educa-
tion events, giving of your money
and time for community service pro-
jects, and contributing in so many
other ways. Thank you! It has been a
privilege serving as your president.
Penny

Committee News
Melvin Jones, Jr. recently delivered drinks and snacks to our Pencil Partner — Alex Green Elementary —for their upcoming field day. Needless to say, Melvin was met by a few of the boys as they were returning to class after re-cess. They were so excited about the delivery, especially when the tailgate automatically opened revealing the snacks and drinks.
Then, one of the young ladies from the office noticed all the drinks and snacks and asked, "Is that for us?" Melvin answered, "Yes ma'am, this is for your Field Day." Her reply was , "That is on Friday!" Again I replied, "Yes ma'am."
Then she stopped and very sweetly said, "Thank You!" Then another child said, "Thank You!" As they began to head into the building, all of the students one after an-other started saying, "Thank You, Thank You!" It was very nice and quite heartwarming. They are so grateful. Then, when Mr. Jones went inside, the adults showed the same type appreciation. They really appreciate AGA.
Community Service
Congratulations to all the winners of our recruitment incentive programs! We wrapped up our year with a total membership of 395 professionals dedicated to quality and accountability in government and non-profit organizational accounting. Thanks to you, the AGA continues to grow in service to our association, our community, and our nation, and we can all be proud to be a part of the movement.
Remember if you have not yet renewed, you may do so at www.agacgfm.org to take advantage of member benefits throughout the summer and into the next program year. Pass the word along to your colleagues of the access to the Fraud Resource Toolkit and great CPE conveniently offered online or by journal.
Thank you for a fabulous year, and stay tuned for more fantastic programs, membership benefits, and re-cruiting incentives beginning in September next year. Get in touch with another AGA member, volunteer for a committee next year, and be the cause of a great organization!
We wish to thank our committee especially: Melissa Lahue and Keevia Battle. Your help is greatly appreciat-ed!
Respectfully yours,
Bridget Carver and Charlotte Gentry
