How do we determine the point of view?
First:LOOK AT THE PRONOUNS
• First-Person• I, me, my, mine, we, us, ours,
• Second-Person• you, your
• Third-Person• he, she, her, they, them• (also character's names)
FIRST PERSON
The narrator is one of the characters.
Example: Today was the worst day of my life. I had failed my driver’s license test.
SECOND PERSON
We see 2nd person point of view mostly ininstructions.
Example: Tie your string on the kite. You can begin flying the kite as soon as you get outside.
THIRD PERSON
The narrator is not one of the characters. Thenarrator is like a reporter telling the readerswhat happened.
Example: She couldn’t believe her eyes. Her father had bought her a brand new sports car. He always knew that she wanted this car. To celebrate, they went out to dinner.
