Contracting with the California State University System

The CSU system has a well established policy for procurement of goods and services designed to take advantage of economies of scale, and provide efficient distribution across the state. Becoming a vendor either for the whole state or just for HSU can be complex and difficult and is not a sensible choice for every business. For the businesses who are successful in securing contracts though it can be be a valuable addition to their business.

CSU Procurement

The Office of the Chancellor is interested in expanding its supplier base, particularly in the areas of small, and disabled veteran-owned enterprises to insure, in accordance with legislative requirements, that a fair proportion of the Chancellor's Office annual procurements is awarded to such firms offering dependable products and services at competitive prices. This is not a guarantee of business but State law requires that state agencies achieve a goal of three (3) percent participation for disabled veteran business enterprises (DVBE) and twenty five (25) percent participation for small businesses in all state annual contracts. Insurance Requirements

Vendors and Contractors offering services which will be performed on the campus are required by the State of California to provide HSU with current certification of insurance coverage PRIOR to the performance of the service.

Vendors and Contractors interested in being considered for Humboldt State University commodity, service, or construction (public works) bids:

1. Complete a Vendor Questionnaire and Payee Data Record Form (STD 204).

2. Send both forms, along with a line card, information packet and/or catalog relating to your firm, to Contracts & Procurement. Please send only one information packet or catalog.

Informal Purchasing

HSU staff and faculty are required to use CSU or HSU contracted vendors where they exist but have discretion in many instances where there are not negotiated rates, when there is a reason the local product or service meets a unique need and in emergencies. These individuals can be influenced with the same tactics you employ to reach other segments of your market.
