Nandos Radio Advert Analysis

After listening to a radio advert for Nandos, I took notes and analysed it. I recognised the style of the advert quiet quickly; I thought it was humorous and repetitive. As soon as the advert begun it repeatedly told us it was Nandos. The word Nandos was mentioned exactly three times during the advert, in my opinion should have been mentioned more. The sound effects in the background were Mexican themed music, as it relates to the cuisine of the restaurant. It also made the advert sound more fun and enjoyable. The advert on a whole was informal, as the man speaking as talking in a Mexican accent and also telling jokes and trying to make the audience laugh. The man speaking sounded like a grown man around 30 – 35. It informative about the taste, and look of the food but however gave no information about where your local Nandos is or any phone numbers or emails. I recognised the tag line as the man said it repeatedly, which was ‘it’s okay!’ Which he said in a happy voice after each sentence. The main purpose of the advert was to advertise and promote Nandos, trying to attract the audience to go and try there food. There were no special offers made or sales. It could have been more formally informative, however Nandos is such a big brand that maybe it doesn’t need someone talking about what Nandos sell and promote? The overall message of this advert, is that Nandos Is suitable for everyone, not matter what you enjoy eating whether it be chips or chicken. Also suitable for any occasion such as a family meal or just a social event with friends. The advert was aimed at a very wide advert as the message was Nandos is for everyone, not just a certain age group or a particular taste. The advert was very short and snappy, which is suitable for a radio advert. I personally think the advert on a whole could be a bit more informative such as contact information and where your local Nandos is, as that would make people think it’s close by and not far away. Also the advert could of included a special offer or promotional voucher from listening to the radio advert. This would attract more people. Also if the advert was broadcasted at a prime time such as 4 – 5pm more people would use these vouchers and offers as that’s the time most people are on their way home from work listening to the radio In their car. Overall I think there could be improvements but it is a fun, jokey advert which people would enjoy listening to.
