Crashed cars and recycled cars willshare the limelight – all for a goodcause – at the National Auto BodyCouncil’s (NABC) booth atNACE/CARS 2014 in Detroit, July31-Aug. 1. The vehicles are all partof the NABC’s signature com-munity service pro-grams designed tohelp promote a pos-itive image of thecollision industry.

Four vehicles willbe donated to local fami-lies in the Detroit area as part ofNABC’s Recycled Rides program inwhich collision repair facilities col-laborate with insurers, rental carcompanies, parts suppliers andmanufacturers to refurbish and do-nate vehicles to deserving families.

Local Detroit-area fire depart-ments will be participating in

demonstrations of NABC’s First Re-sponder Emergency Extrication(FREE) program which enables firstresponders to practice life-savingextrication techniques on late-model vehicles.

Forrepairers, this demands an understanding of propersectioning techniques and up-to-date knowledge onnew vehicle designs that can impact sectioning deci-sions. Understanding these important considerationscan be the difference between a complete and safe re-pair and possibly compromising passenger safety.This course prepares technicians with the informationthey need to make proper decisions for sectioning. Thestudent will receive an overview of sectioning that in-cludes classroom activities, props, and demonstra-tions that illustrate detailed information on sectioningpreparation and joint types.
