Recycle Collection Days for January

Mar 13 - Paper only

Mar 27 - Plastic & Aluminum only

USE BLUE recycle bags or mark clearly with GREEN tape/string to indicate “recycle”

Supporting the

Resident Recycle Initiative

is our GOAL! RECRUITING!

Collection day helpers Avid recyclers

Do you ever feel like a plastic bag? Drifting through the wind, wanting to start again?

Plastic bags have it rough. They're plastic, yet NOT RECYCLABLE!

It's rare for a local recycler to accept plastic bags. Plastic bag markets require that these materials be clean, dry and empty. Once inside a recycling bin, they definitely DO NOT meet the first two criteria.

Solutions: 1. Use an alternative type of bag.

2. Keep bags separate and return to a local store which accepts them.

Every Thursday, the Wallace Building

Residents begin gathering at 8:30 a.m. in the foyer of the Wallace bldg.

Chaplains Chat...

Many of you have heard about changes that have taken place within the Sunday morning services at the Parks-Faudree Family Chapel (across from the Receptionist Office) and the Sunday morning Bible Study that is held in the Wayne Moore Room of Helen Greathouse Manor. Both of these activities now start at 10:00 a.m. Concerning the service at the Parks-Faudree Family Chapel, I have had one church group, St. Luke’s United Methodist Church, agree to lead that service on the second Sunday of each month, beginning in March. I hope to hear soon form other church groups, or individu-als, that are considering ways in which they can minister to our residents. Benita Birmingham begins playing the piano at 9:45 as people begin to come in for that service. One of our Independent Living residents, Sharon Spears, is willing to lead the Sunday morning Bible Study time at HGM. If others ex-press interest in helping with this ministry, I will be working with everyone involved to see where best to have them plug in. My hope is that this will help ease any stress in not being responsible every week for this activity. Also, Beverly Draper plays music as people come in for this service. If you are aware of anyone that would be willing to help lead music for any of these services/Bible Study times, please let me know. I will be letting each group now of any de-velopments, as I can, so you will be aware of what is happening. Blessings, Chaplain Bill Billett BCC Let me know if I can be of help as you face any transition in your life. I am open to meeting with you. Please let me know if you would like me to come by and visit you. My phone number to my office is 699-3404 or send an email

About Hospice Care - part 2 (A Medicare Benefit) How your hospice benefit works

If you qualify for hospice care, you and your family will work with your hospice provider to set up a plan of care that meets your needs. For more specific in-formation on a hospice plan of care, call your state hospice organization.

You and your family members are the most im-portant part of a team that may also include: ■ Doctors ■ Nurses or nurse practitioners ■ Counselors ■ Social workers ■ Pharmacists ■ Physical and occupational therapists ■ Speech-language pathologists ■ Hospice aides ■ Homemakers ■ Volunteers In addition, a hospice nurse and doctor are on-call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, to give you and your family support and care when you need it. A hospice doctor is part of your medical team. You can also choose to include your regular doctor or a nurse practitioner on your medical team as the attending medical professional who supervises your care. The hospice benefit allows you and your family to stay together in the comfort of your home, unless you need care in an inpatient facility. If your hospice pro-vider decides you need inpatient hospice care, your hospice provider will make the arrangements for your stay.

Independent Living event sign-up sheets on clipboards…

The sign-up sheets for activities can be found on the two long wooden tables located in the Atrium. The clipboards are updated before the monthly Residents Meeting. Residents attend the Residents Meeting then sign up for next month’s events. If a ticket is required for an event, you must indicate if you have your own or NEED one for the event. Nicole will assist you with on-line ticket purchases.
