Team Relay - Leg 1 Elevation

Relay leg #1 Race Information

• Start Line Corrals- There will be fourteen waves at the Start Line. All waves will be staged on Broadway Street. Wave 1 will start at 7:00 AM. Wave 2 will be walked up to the start line and will be held for 45 seconds and then released. Followed by a walk-up and individual release of waves 3-14. All participants will have a wave assignment on their race bib. Wave assignments are based on anticipated team finish time collected during registration. Participants must enter at the back of their assigned corral. Waves 1-3 will enter at the back of the blue corral. Waves 4-8 will enter the back of the red corral. Waves 9-14 will enter the back of the orange corral. Once inside your staging corral stand behind the wave sign indicated on your race bib.

• Gear Check- To reduce congregating and contact points, Gear Check has been suspended for 2021. Please drop any clothing you wish to donate on the sidewalks alongside the corrals. All clothing will be donated to a local shelter.

• Enhanced Security- Backpacks are highly discouraged and all bags are subject to be searched in all race areas along the course. The Start Line and Finish Line will have athlete only areas. Non-participants will not be permitted in these areas which include the Start Line corrals and the Finisher Festival at the Finish Line. NO FAMILY RUN-IN AT FINISH LINE – Only athletes are permitted on the racecourse, including crossing the finish line. This is for the safety of all athletes, spectators, and race officials.

• First Leg course details: • Relay leg distance-4.6 miles • Start Line is located at 20 S. Broadway St. • Finish of relay leg #1 is located on 245 Wolf Ledges Parkway

• Helpful Tips: • To reduce contact points there will be no relay slap bracelet for 2021. • Parking- Recommended parking location for first leg relay runners is the University of Akron

north campus parking deck - 268 E. Buchtel • Walking directions back to Lock 3 for the Finisher Festival-The Finisher Festival is located at

200 S. Main St. inside Lock 3. Get your finisher fluids, food bag and medal in the parking lot behind the Exchange Zone. Travel south on Buckeye St. Turn right on Exchange St. Turn right on Main St. Signage will direct you to the finisher festival to receive your post-race pizza and beverages.

• Race bib: Each participant in the relay will receive his or her own race bib. All five team members will have the same bib number in the 5-Person Team Relay. Additionally, relay participants will have a second bib that must be attached to the BACK of the shirt, denoting them as relay participants. The food and beer tickets will be collected when you receive these items.

• Timing Device- Each member of the relay will have his or her own bib which has the timing chip attached to the back. THERE WILL NOT BE A TRANSFER OF BIBS. As one member crosses the timing mat at the relay exchange zone, the next person’s timing chip will begin keeping the time. Do not cross any timing mat other than the finishing mat corresponding with your relay leg. Only one member of a relay team can be on the course at one time. If two people are on the course, it will cause a timing error and your team may be disqualified.
