2 Installation ProcessPurposeThe Workplace Middleware formats the HTML pages that are displayed in the Web browser onthe frontend.

The functions of the SAP Internet Transaction Server (ITS) represent the basic technology of themySAP.com Workplace Middleware, together with a Web server. It mainly controls thegeneration of HTML pages and enables users to interact with the different SAP Systems using aWeb browser.

Every component system and the Workplace Server itself need a separate ITS instance.

If you run different applications or templates in different clients, you must create an ITS instanceper client.

On the other hand you have optional components that increase the functionality (Drag&Relate,Internet Graphic Server, Business Connector, Terminal Server).

Prerequisites• Read the SAP Notes in Overview of Related SAP Notes [on page 123] before beginning the

installation. These SAP Notes contain the most up-to-date information regarding theinstallation and corrections to this installation documentation. Make sure that you have themost recent version of these SAP Notes. You can find SAP Notes on the SAP ServiceMarketplace: http://service.sap.com/notes.

• Make sure that the following Workplace components are already installed:

a. Workplace Server

b. Component Systems.

We strongly recommend to read the guide mySAP.com Workplace 2.11Installation - Overview that provides a complete overview of all installation andconfiguration steps. You will find this guide on the CD-ROM:SAP Online Documentation mySAP.com Workplace 2.11 in folder install/Toplevel.

• Check the hardware and software requirements on page 10.

Process Flow1. On your Web server host(s) you have to install the Web server instance(s) for your ITS

instances to which you want to connect from the Web server host (Installation of the WebServer Instances [Page 19]).

The Web server must support multiple (Web server) instances.Netscape Enterprise Server (NES) supports multiple Web server instances as ofVersion 2.0.Microsoft Internet Information Server (IIS) supports multiple Web server instancesas of Version 4.0; if you are using IIS 4.0, Make sure that the option ‘Run inseparate memory space’ is not activated for each Web Server instance.

If you install the Internet Information Server 4.0 to access SSL for theDrag&Relate Servlet, bear in mind, that the Netscape Enterprise Server and theInternet Information Server cannot run on one host simultaneously.

2. You have to install one separate SAP Internet Transaction Server instance (ITS Instance) forthe Workplace Server and each logical system .

For the ITS instance of the mySAP.com Workplace Server 2.11 you have to use aITS version 4.6D, Compilation 3.

You also need a separate ITS instance for administration purposes.

a. First install the ITS instance on the Workplace Server: ITS Installation [Page 12]

b. Reboot your system.

c. Install the next ITS instance for one of your component systems: ITS Installation [Page12]

d. Reboot your system.

e. Repeat steps 6 to 7 for each of your logical mySAP.com component systems.

f. Install the ITS instance for the its_adm package if required [Page 55].

3. Install the Internet Graphics Server if required [Page 68].

4. Install the Workplace Servlets if required [Page 73].

5. Install the Terminal Server if required [Page 113].

6. Install SAP Business Connector if required [Page 120].

2.1.2 Internet Graphics Server (IGS) Installation(optional)

PurposeThe IGS has the following functions:

• Displaying graphics in SAP GUI for HTML

• Displaying graphics in MiniApps

• Generating graphics based on a given set of data without displaying the graphics in the frontend

The following graphics are currently supported:

• Business graphics

• Networks

• Bar charts

The application server sends data to the IGS using a remote function call (RFC). A graphicscontrol and a bitmap are generated on the IGS and the bitmap is sent back to the applicationserver (in GIF-format or JPEG-format). The bitmap on the application server can then bedisplayed in an HTML frontend (ITS).

There is the following restriction:One IGS can support a maximum of only 16 application servers..

When to Install the IGS for the mySAP.com WorkplaceYou only need to install the IGS for the mySAP.com Workplace, if Java applets are not allowedon your frontend (for example, for security reasons), but you want to display graphics in theMiniApps (normally the graphics are displayed on the frontend using a Java applet).

2.1.3 Workplace Servlets Installation (optional)PurposeThe Workplace Servlets contains the Drag&Relate Servlet and the MiniApp Servlet for iViews.

Drag&Relate ServletThe Drag&Relate function empowers simple, browser-based navigation, enabling you to executetransactions across system boundaries by linking data from one application to data in anotherapplication. You simply select a business object by clicking it and then drag it onto another objecton the LaunchPad and the system performs an activity.

For example, you could select a purchase order and then drag it onto an icon that launches aWeb site that tracks deliveries, to retrieve information about the delivery status of the selectedpurchase order.

You can use the Drag&Relate function in the following scenarios:

• Dragging R/3 objects to a transaction in the same logical system

• Dragging R/3 objects to a transaction in another logical system

• Dragging R/3 objects to an icon that launches an external Web site

• Dragging MiniApp objects to a transaction in a logical system

• Dragging MiniApp objects to an icon that launches an external Web site

MiniApp Servlet for iViewThe MiniApp Servlet for iViews enables iView and Website Component functionality in SAPWorkplace. An iView is a type of MiniApp that lets you easily extend the reach of your SAPWorkplace to any available data resource on the World Wide Web.

A Website Component defines a relationship between a Web site and a structured databaseaccessed by a Drag and Relate servlet, or by any other HRNP (HyperRelational NavigationProtocol) server. This relationship enables retrieving from a Web site, data related to a selecteddatabase element.

MiniApp Servlet for iViews comes with sophisticated tools for developing, deploying, andadministering both iViews and Website Components. MiniApp Servlet for iViews is also theengine that powers iViews and Website Components at run-time.

The MiniApp Servlet for iViews is installed on a machine running Windows NT Server 4.0(recommended) or Windows NT Workstation 4.0 in the network where SAP Workplace isinstalled.

2.1.3.2 Drag&Relate Servlet InstallationPrerequisites• You can implement the Drag&Relate function only in mySAP.com component systems with a

release level of R/3 Release 4.0B or higher. Component systems of R/3 Release level 3.1Hor 3.1I can be used as a target for Drop actions from a component system with an R/3Release level of R/3 Release 4.0B or higher.

• You met the minimum requirements. [Page 10]

• The SAP DCOM Connector has been installed and customized [Page 74] for the componentsystems.

• If you are using the Secure Socket Layer (SSL), you have to install one Microsoft InternetInformation Server (IIS) for the Drag&Relate Servlet (see Installation of the Web ServerInstances [Page 19]).

If you are still considering whether to implement SSL, we recommend installingthe necessary components anyway.

Process Flow1. You install the Drag&Relate Servlet [Page 84] for each logical system in which you want to

implement this function.

You can also predetermine installation settings by configuring a silent installer. This enables another user to simply double-click an executable file to install theservlet. For details, see Configuring a Silent Installation [Page 92].

2. You configure the Drag&Relate Servlet. [Page 94]

2.1.3.2.1 Installing the Drag&Relate ServletUseFor each productive SAP client that you want to enable for Drag&Relate, you must install theDrag&Relate Servlet.

During the Drag and Relate Servlet installation, when you designate the component system, theinstaller automatically adds to the specified SQL 7 Server installation (or to MSDE) the TopTierOLE DB Provider for SAP, directed at a specific logical component system. This OLE DBProvider functions as a linked server, enabling communication between the Drag and RelateServlet, and the specified logical component system.

DO NOT install the Drag&Relate Servlet for the Workplace Server.Procedure1. Insert the Server Components 4.6D CD-ROM in the CD-ROM drive.

2. Start the Windows NT Explorer.

3. Select the directory <CD-ROM>:\wp_servl\Wp211\nt\i386.

4. Double-click runsetup.exe and choose OK.

5. In the Choose Servlet dialog box, choose the Drag and Relate Servlet option.

6. Choose Next.

If a Microsoft Transaction Server (MTS) installation is not found on the local machine, awarning message appears to that effect.

− To enable connection pooling, exit the Setup, install MTS, and then begin the Setupagain. Basically, connection pooling is a feature of the Microsoft Transaction Server(MTS) that improves system performance.

We highly recommend that servlet users with MTS installed take advantage of thefact that the servlet supports connection pooling, by selecting the ConnectionPooling option during installation.

− To continue the Setup without enabling connection pooling, choose OK.

7. Read the Welcome screen, and choose Next.

If you have already installed Microsoft Data Access Component (MDAC; as part of theInternet Explorer 5.0) you are not prompted to install it.

Otherwise, the MDAC is automatically installed. If you are prompted to reboot, choose OK.Following the reboot, Setup resumes automatically. When the Welcome screen appears, choose Next.

8. If Microsoft SQL Server 7.0 is not detected on the local machine, then the Choose MSDEDestination Location dialog box appears. MSDE is installed in the location you specify. Whena message appears indicating that MSDE has been installed, choose OK.

9. In the Choose Destination Location dialog box, specify the destination folder for theDrag&Relate Servlet and choose Next.

PrerequisitesThe Workplace Server is installed.

Procedure1. Logon to the Workplace Server.

2. You have to alternatives to perform the task:

Alternative 1 Alternative 2

a. Go to transaction SM30.

b. On the Maintain Table Views screen, enter the following value in theTable/View field: TWPURLSVR.

c. Choose Maintain

Go to transaction View Maintenancecontained in the Workplace Administratorrole.

3. Check whether an entry for the logical system that corresponds to your workplace server isalready maintained.

If this is not the case, you must create one.

Then you just need to fill the MiniApp Server address including port number in theDrag&Relate Server name field using the following syntax.MiniAppServerHostName:<PortNumber>

For example:miniapp.sap.com:9998

In this example, miniapp.sap.com is the host name of the machine on which theMiniApp Servlet is installed, and 9998 is the port number assigned to the serverduring the setup.

In the Drag&Relate server protocol field, enter the appropriate protocol, either HTTP orHTTPS if you use SSL.

2.1.4 Terminal Server Installation (optional)PurposeThe Terminal Server is a multi-user version of Windows NT or Windows 2000 from MicrosoftCorporation.

Together with the Metaframe software from Citrix Systems Inc. it enables users to run Windowsapplications, more precisely the user interface of such an application, in a Web browser.

By using a Terminal Server it is possible to integrate applications into the Workplace that are notimplemented in HTML or Java. This includes almost any legacy application and terminalemulation.

This documentation describes how to integrate SAP GUI for Windows into the Workplace usingTerminal Server. This is just one scenario: any other application that runs on Terminal Server canalso be integrated into the Workplace. Depending on the requirements of these applications (e.g.parameter transfer and authentication) they have to be implemented on a case-by-case basis.

PrerequisitesThe Workplace Server and the Internet Transaction Server are installed.

Process Flow1. You check the hardware and software requirements. [Page 10]

2. You set up the Terminal Server. [Page 114]

3. You enable the ITS to use the Terminal Server. [Page 117]

4. You configure the Workplace server for the use of the Terminal Server [Page 118].

2.1.4.1 Setting up the Terminal ServerUseThe Terminal Server is launched from the LaunchPad in the mySAP.com Workplace. A CitrixWeb Client will be invoked in the Workplace and will connect to the application from there.Windows NT, Terminal Server Edition or Windows 2000 Server can be licensed from MicrosoftCorp.

Citrix Metaframe can be licensed from Citrix Systems Inc.

Technical OverviewThe Workplace calls the TSGUI service via the SAPXGINET gateway. This will generate anHTML page that itself invokes the Citrix Web Client (i.e. Citrix ActiveX Primary ALE Client forWin32 platforms). The Citrix control connects to the Citrix Metaframe Server and starts thepublished application sapshcut. SAPSHCUT.EXE is generally used to start SAP GUI sessionsfrom a shortcut file. All parameters are passed as command line parameters.

Current versions of Metaframe contain extensions that support the controlled start of any SAPtransaction as well as navigation in Terminal Server-based sessions from the LaunchPad.

Prerequisites• Windows NT 4.0, Terminal Server Edition with Support Package 4 or higher in combination

with Citrix Metaframe 1.8 and Support Package 1 or higher is installed.

• Either Windows 2000 Server or Windows 2000 Advanced Server with Windows TerminalServices in combination with Citrix Metaframe 1.8a or higher is supported.

• SAP GUI for Windows 4.6D.

• The Terminal Server has to be installed on a different host than the ITS server.

• The file system on the server is not protected by default. Make sure that a security system isset up.

Procedure (Example for SAP GUI for Windows)1. Install Windows NT 4.0 Terminal Server Edition or Windows 2000. Install the latest Service

Pack.

2. Install Citrix Metaframe 1.8 or higher on the Terminal Server. Install the latest Service Packfor Metaframe.

3. Install the SAP GUI for Windows from the mySAP.com Presentation CD (see Overview ofRelated Installation Guides [Page 121]) on the Terminal Server. For technical reasons theinstallation path for SAP GUI needs to be the root directory of any disk. Note that on aTerminal Server applications need to be installed using Control Panel → Add/RemovePrograms.

Page 115: mySAP.com Workplace 2.10 - Installation Guide... and OS/400® are registered trademarks of IBM Corporation. ORACLE® is a ... INFORMIX®-OnLine for SAP and Informix® Dynamic Server

4. Define a Citrix Published Application that points to <drive>:\SAPpc\SAPGUI\sapshcut.exe %*

The recommended name for the Published Application is sapshcut. Please select

Anonymous mode for authentication.

You define a Published Application using the Published Application Manager fromCitrix that is part of the Metaframe software; please refer to the Citrixdocumentation for details.

5. You configure anonymous users on the Terminal Server.

The Workplace Server does not use NT authentication, because authenticationtakes place on the Workplace Server. Instead it uses the Citrix PublishedApplication with anonymous users (Anon000 - Anon014, created during theinstallation of Metaframe). If necessary, Metaframe will dynamically add Anonxxxusers for up to 99 concurrent sessions..

a. Set up a profile in \<systemroot>\Profiles\Default User containing at leastSAPLOGON.INI and SAPMSG.INI. If these files are to be valid for all users on theTerminal Server, they must also be stored centrally in \<systemroot>

Anonymous users get their profile (SAPLOGON.INI, Start Menu, favorites etc.)during logon from \<systemroot>\Profiles\Default User. Create files and settingshere, if they are to be available for anonymous users. If a file with the same name(same name as what?)already exists in the \Winnt (or similar) directory, this filerather than the \Default User version will be used. When the last relevant process for the anonymous user has ended (SAP GUIlogoff or the user navigates out of the Workplace), the ICA session will be reset

that is equivalent to a user logoff. At this point of time all profile settings(SAPLOGON.INI etc.) will be cleared.

b. Further settings for each Anonxxx user:

i. Password never expires: Yes

ii. User can change password: No

iii. User must be member of Anonymous and Users groups

iv. On a broken or time-out session: Reset (This is the default for anonymous users)

v. Connect client drives: No

vi. User Guest must be disabled

c. Additional adjustments can be made to optimize the logon process and the appearanceof the Terminal Server session. You can find some recommended changes in the SAPNote 215529.

2.1.4.2 Enabling the ITS to Use the Terminal ServerUseThe SAP Internet Transaction Server must be made aware of the Terminal Server. To do so, youwill have to maintain the file tsgui.srvc (has been installed by the ITS).

PrerequisitesYou have installed the Terminal Server. [Page 114]

Procedure1. Log on to the Internet Transaction Server.2. Save the latest Citrix Web Client. contained in wfica.cab in a directory on the ITS that is

accessible from a URL. Example: http://hostname/xxx_ITS/Citrix/wfica.cab.

Either take the file wfica.cab from your Metaframe installation or use a Webbrowser to access the Citrix Web site(http://download.citrix.com/index.htm), and download the CitrixActiveX web client. Use the ActiveX Primary ALE Client for Win32 platforms (i.e.,NT 4.0, Win98, etc.).

3. Logon to ITS Administration and adjust the following parameters for the service TSGUI:

− citrixcabfile: This parameter must contain the URL for the Citrix ActiveX PrimaryALE Client for WIN32 Platforms (wfica.cab#Version=4,2,779,0). When a Workplace userconnects to a Terminal Server for the first time , the Citrix ActiveX control is installed fromthis file on the client computer. During subsequent sessions the installed control is used.

− terminalserver: Hostname or IP address of the Terminal Server or ICA MasterBrowser (see Citrix MetaFrame documentation for a discussion on ICA Browsers), onwhich SAP GUI was installed.

− Terminalserver2: Additional ICA Browser (optional)

Do not change any further parameters . Note that the template for the .ica filewhich is used to connect to the Terminal Server can be found as tsica.html in the\templates\tsica\99 directory. For more details on the parameters, refer to theCitrix Metaframe documentation.
