About me

Through art direction and its twin process of graphic design I’ve learned that to be a great designer you should be open to change. The evolution of design is always growing and I aspire to be at crest of that wave.

I have an insatiable curiosity and find satisfaction in tweaking my designer toolbox with skills. I enjoy the ability to visualize the final creative vision. The quality I admire the most which I believe makes an exceptional designer is having a sharp eye for what a design brief can become.

For the concept to thrive, it is in need of an innovative structure and the consumer’s psychology is intergral to undestanding which idea succeeds. To ensure an effective visual communication through my designs, I understand it should be coupled with a clever marketing strategy. It is an essential part of any iconic brand image.

My interest in art direction and design has led me to explore film such as visual effects and animation which complement the fields of commercial advertising and the production industry well.

It is not enough to strive for excellent design. I would like the opportunity to make it more than exceptional.

2013: Graduate at AAA School of Advertising, Cape Town: Graphic Design and Marketing.

2010: Matriculated from St Andrew’s College with full exemption.

Other Education

Certificate in SLED (South African Sign Language) level 4.

Completed a basic course in Photography.

Work Experience

04/14 - 06/15: Worked at D&A Model Management, Cape Town. - Taking photos in the studio for new models’ portfolios. - Providing relevent design file formats and content for the website. - Creating presentations for proposals and concepts. - Providing customer services. - Setting up/updating data sheets and online forms. - Designing relevent print designs: Posters, flyers, vehicle branding, outdoor posters and booklet. -Designing online visuals and adverts for online advertising and social media. - Designing a start up online magazine/presentation. - Researching and keeping up to date with current design trends and competitors.

2013: Internship at DHK, Architectural Firm, Cape Town.

2009: Job shadowing at Mx Print Magazine, Queenstown.

Languages

Fluent in English. Partial in French and Sign Language (SLED).

Programmes and skills media

Proficient in Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop and Adobe InDesign. Some experience in Adobe Flash, Adobe Dreamweaver, and Adobe After Effects.

Additional skills in ToonBoom, Maya, Adobe Premier.

Marketing models covered: Principles of Marketing, Consumer Buying Behaviour, MAPP and Brand Managment (final year).

My best skills are in illustration, photoshop visual effects, some experience in 2D animation, graphic motions and 3D modeling.

A team project, with three marketers for the Brand Storm 2013 Campaign by L’Oreal Paris.

The target market: LSM 7 segment in Asia, mainly women. The brief: a cosmetic product design, futuristic & modern.

The packaging is designed to represent the DNA stand, according to the

compiled research from the marketers, nanotechnology is the key to target the segment group.
