HISTORY OF GROTON
The town was officially settled in 1655, named for Groton in Suffolk, England.
In 1775, the common in front of the First Parish Church was an assembly area for Minutemen, who fought in the Battle of Lexington and Concord.
The Old Stagecoach Inn built in 1678 was accepted in 1976 in the National Register of Historic Places.
Gibbet Hill - The hill is named for the English gibbet, a gallows generally situated on a hill for public executions. A farmhouse built by John Lawrence in 1690 still stands on this 340-acre farm.

LIVING IN GROTON
For the majority of my childhood I lived in
Groton
I moved there when I was 6 years old
My family bought a house in a new
development that used to be an old ski slope
Many things kept me and my family grounded
in this town, as we still live there today.
