My focus group questionnaire analysis

By Eleanor Birtles

The first question I asked my focus group is featured above the feedback I got back from this question was that my magazine should be priced between £1 and £2 as this

would appeal more to the age range of my target market because students wont be able to afford an expensive

magazine.

From question two I gathered that the focus group thought that a purple or even a silvery colour as this would convey

my rock and rock genre well the most.

For question three there was a split decision about which magazine cover was more effective. Rosie and Sam thought that the ‘Billboard’ magazine cover looked better because it

was the brightest and most eye-catching, however everyone else preferred the ‘NME’ magazine cover because

it clearly looked more like a music magazine.

Everyone agreed that for this question the things that most appealed to everyone was the Q&A’s.

This is helpful because I can now base my main article that will be featured on my double paged spread should be a series of question’s and answers in order to appeal to my

targeted audience

From question 5 everyone agreed that my magazine should contain both professionally taken images and photographs

that have been taken at concerts of music festivals.

Question 6 made me realise that 100% of the focus group agreed with each other and decided that they would

definitely be more attracted to a magazine if it contained a free promotional voucher or a free promotional gift.

Two individuals in the focus group put forward the idea that a name that would easily show that the magazine is a

music magazine and can relate to music. Everyone then went on to agree that this would be appropriate in

brainstorming name ideas.

Overall the focus group proved very helpful to me as it has helped me

considerably and developed my ideas further into what my target audience

would appreciate in my music magazine. For my magazine to appeal to the audience I need to be sure that

my magazine has all the main features that were discussed openly and agreed on in my focus group.
