STUDENT FEATURE

We talked to Philip Pham about how he plans touse his skills learned in the Dental Lab TechnologyProgram to help others. Interview by Melani Zuniga

Philip PhamPhilip Pham

What made you choose to go into theDLT Program? My brother-in-law is in the DLT Program. Heshowed me how a lot of the work is doneand that sparked my interest to join.

What’s your favorite class?Maxil Facial. It’s the process of making facialfeatures for people who may have lost aneye or ear for any reason.

So DLT students can make objectsfor more than dental purposes?Once you know how to work with and moldthe materials, you can make anything.

What are your plans aftergraduation?I plan to work for three years and then passmy Certified Dental Technician (CDT) Exam. Then I want to open my own dental lab.

What do you like to do for fun?I like to play sports. My friends and I alsolike to create our own scavenger hunts. Wecome up with ideas and then pull a few outof a hat. It’s fun to do on a weekend.

What is your advice to current andfuture students?Know what you want to major in and stickto it. If not, you’ll just be wasting money, especially on the university level.
