You Wouldn't want to be at the Boston Tea Party! By: Mustafa Butt Author: Peter Cook Illustrator: David Antram Number of pages: 32 Level: 40 Genre: Informational What I learnt I learnt that the Boston Tea Party was not actually a tea party. I learnt that it was actually when a lot of people went together on to the English ships and they dumped all of the tea in to the water. The reason for this was because there was tax on the tea. I learnt that people from Boston are called Bostonians. The Bostonians were mistreated as the British did not pay for the things that they bought. Boston was the main place that the British brought their supplies and took them around the U.S. I learnt that when they went to the tea party they dressed as Indians. The rebellion against Britain was called 'The Sons of Liberty'. There was a song that they sang at the tea party. It went like this: "Rally Mohawks! Bring your axes, and tell King George we'll pay no taxes on his foreign tea!" I learnt that America earned it's independence on July 4th 1776. Text Features The text features I used wereTable of contents, Index, Handy Hints, Maps, Pictures/Caricature, and Glossary. The reason text features are important are because they help you understand the text. For example if you read something with a lot of hard and complicated words you might look at a picture or the glossary (text features) and you could understand better.

What I learnt I learnt that the Boston Tea Party was not actually a tea

party. I learnt that it was actually when a lot of people went together on to the

English ships and they dumped all of the tea in to the water. The reason for this

was because there was tax on the tea. I learnt that people from Boston are called

Bostonians. The Bostonians were mistreated as the British did not pay for the

things that they bought. Boston was the main place that the British brought their

supplies and took them around the U.S. I learnt that when they went to the tea

party they dressed as Indians. The rebellion against Britain was called 'The Sons

of Liberty'. There was a song that they sang at the tea party. It went like this:

"Rally Mohawks! Bring your axes, and tell King George we'll pay no taxes on his

foreign tea!" I learnt that America earned it's independence on July 4th 1776.

Text Features

The text features I used were… Table of contents, Index, Handy Hints, Maps,

Pictures/Caricature, and Glossary. The reason text features are important are

because they help you understand the text. For example if you read something

with a lot of hard and complicated words you might look at a picture or the

glossary (text features) and you could understand better.
