Video conceptLego house by Ed Sheeran is a soul/indie pop song which made it into the charts. For the music video they have chosen to tell the haunting story about an over obsessed fan with the artist. The narrative is about the character copying the artist in everyway possible to try and satisfy his obsession with him. Through out the narrative you will see both light and dark sides of the character which are represented accordingly. The characters obsession drives himself to do the most extraordinary things such as making a life sized doll and even trying to pass as the artist on stage in front of a live audience. The slow moving song is fitting with the narrative as it emphasizes the emotional trauma that the character is going through with his obsession. There is also juxtaposition with the words ‘Lego house’ when the character is making a Lego house, but in his anger he destroys it which can be a powerful image for the audience as they experience the bipolar nature of the character.

Camera & editingThe camera and editing is all focused around the main character as it is his actions which the audience are keenly watching. There is a wide shot where he is walking in a barren land scape. This shot symbolizes how alone the character is, the land scape can represent what it is like walking through his mind, alone and barren. On the next shot there is a low angle shot looking up at the character. This shot shows the darker and more unpredictable side of him. It is a more prominent shot of him and it gives the audience that he could be danger which is seen later when he has out bursts of rage in his emotion. In the bottom shot we can the camera is showing the character looking within himself and getting angry and he cant control his emotions. It is like he is stuck in the mirror and where he is. The song is slow moving and the editing reflects that as it has long slow pace shots lazily switching from one shot to the next.

Representations of the character & artist.During the beginning of the narrative

some of the audience would be fooled into thinking that the character was in fact the artist; he lip sang the shot and he was able to write music, play the guitar and dress like the artist. Its only later that you would get the shock and see that he is the character who he is. the audience is being shown that character is effectively losing his mind through his obsession as they see him doing the strangest things. We can see that he has created his own social group which he has centred around him so that he can get some sort of attention. It is the actions of the character which catches the audiences interest and the unusual music video they have created. Through out the whole music video the artist is idolised by the character and it is especially shown when they meet where the camera is completely focused on him.
