The Murray Senior Recreation Center is a happening place. We have a little bit of everything for everyone. We are

fortunate to have such a nice Center for the residents of our community to utilize. My hope is that more Murray

residents will take the opportunity to use our facility and programs. Our vision has always been to create a healthy and

happy environment. Our primary goal is to provide programs within our community that are accessible to you. One of

the main benefits is that this will help you keep active as you get older. By keeping active, both mentally and

physically, you stay stronger which helps support independent living. Another benefit is being able to socialize and

form friendships with others. That social interaction and stimulation gives you the chance to get involved in the

community. This is a huge need that is underestimated in seniors. Our Center can provide contact with others through

all sorts of programs and activities which can be both mentally and physically stimulating. Within this newsletter there

are many activities listed to help you in that process.

We will also be conducting a survey over the next several weeks starting October 1 to identify ways we can improve

and better serve our senior community. Please take the time to complete this important survey. Your input is valuable

to us as we move forward in making changes to improve your overall experience at the Center. We

hope you will take advantage of these programs by visiting the Murray Senior Recreation Center and

participating. I am positive that it will enhance your quality of life! – Cory Plant, Director

MCReg.com We are now offering the

Quran, which means "the timeless words of God." The

regular Influenza Vaccine (Quadrivalent four strain), High-

Dose Vaccine (for over 65), or Pneumonia vaccine.

Prevnar 13 (PCV13) is recommended for all seniors 65

years of age and older that have not previously received

this pneumococcal vaccination.

You MUST bring the following items with you before

receiving your flu shots: insurance or Medicare card (must

have Part B) and photo ID. Community Nursing Services is

contracted to directly bill most health insurances.

If you don’t have insurance, the regular FLU SHOT cost is

$35, High Dose $50, Pneumonia (PPSV 23) $100, and

Prevnar 13 is $195. As we age our immune system

weakens and our ability to fight illness decreases. Adults

age 65+ are more vulnerable to influenza. Vaccinations

are safe, effective, and considered to be the best way to

help protect against influenza. No registration required.
