Charcoal drawing, clay painting and dot painting have been a popular choice for lunchtime activities. Staff enjoyed a taste of kangaroo stew for lunch thanks to Nancy Beezley. ARTS COUNCIL COMINGARTS COUNCIL COMINGARTS COUNCIL COMINGARTS COUNCIL COMING————BOTH PRIMARY AND SECONDARYBOTH PRIMARY AND SECONDARYBOTH PRIMARY AND SECONDARYBOTH PRIMARY AND SECONDARY Both arts council performances will be next Thursday 26 July and payment of $6 per child attending should be sent to school by 25 July. There is a discounted fee of $15 for a family of primary students only (3 or more). Primary Performance “cents + $ensibility” commences 9.40am Secondary Performance “The Social Me” DRAGON READERS STARTS NEXT WEEKDRAGON READERS STARTS NEXT WEEKDRAGON READERS STARTS NEXT WEEKDRAGON READERS STARTS NEXT WEEK Primary students are participating in a progressive reading program, starting next week. This is designed to encourage the enjoyment of reading. • Each child reads and/or is read to for 10 minutes each day at a time that suits.

An adult needs to hear the child read. • Each parent dates and initials the appropriate space on the record sheet. One

entry a day maximum please. • When the dragon reader has filled the current sheet, he/she returns the record

sheet to our school library and progresses to the next level. • Awards and incentives are given when readers achieve each level. Also at each

level a certificate will be given to students to celebrate their success. Tips for Parent Reading Partners: • To help reading become a habit, stick to a regular routine • Make reading fun • Never use reading as a punishment. Make sure your child enjoys the

experience. Build confidence by praising any reading or “guessing” your child does.
