The Mlock clamping system is a multidimensional,

multipurpose workholding platform that is function-,

size and type-optimized for high performance and

high efficiency setups on any type of machining center

or automation systems, designed from the ground up to

excel in low volume, high mix environments as well as

in large production.

It's function centered design and comprehensive

capabilities allow it to have a big impact on setup

times, precision and versatility with a low cost to

performance ratio.

The highest quality Swedish tool steel, high end

machining and heat treatment gives the Mlock system

solid, future-proof, and reliable performance with

easy maintenance and longevity.

Design philosophy

In designing the Mlock workholding system, we wanted to balance complex opposing needs :

■ high rigidity and capability with design simplicity, compact dimensions and low weight

■ long term reliability with wear compensation■ everyday clamping performance with manufacturing

complexity and overall system cost

We believe we have achieved that by developing our hybrid jaw system. It uses a two piece design with a sliding T nut [3] and a top jaw [1] that is engaged by a small dovetail and two standard M8 bolts [2] .

This design allows the Mlock workholding system to feature : ■ high lateral and axial rigidity through the base clamping

effect between the top jaw and T nut by the dovetail force distribution that also minimizes the screw axial support load under the cutting forces

■ fast and easy jaw reversing process■ availability of different gipping technologies and profiles for

different materials and clamping setups that require no extra processing like prestamping or dovetailing

■ minimal jaw height for maximum clearance■ efficient chip evacuation through large lateral slots [4]■ long term reliability determine by simplicity of design

Mlock overview

The system is split into three main dimensional sizes, the Mlock

80 | Mlock 100 | Mlock 125. Featuring 82/100/125 mm wide jaws,

the Mlock can be a centric, a dual or a single station vise in

150/180/265 mm base lengths and 82/100 mm width bases. All are

compatible with Lang 52 or similar zeropoint systems.

The centric type

All the centric versions of the Mlock 80 | Mlock 100 | Mlock 125

feature the same hybrid jaw system and similar sized base

components like the screw, axial support and T nuts so the

clamping performance is consistent across the range.

The dual type

The dual version of the Mlock 100 | Mlock 125 is the chameleon

of the system, allowing easy transformation from a compact

double station vise to a bigger single station for fast

manufacturing adaptation. Featuring the same hybrid jaw

system on both mobile and fix jaw with similar sized base

components like the centric version, for easy maintenance and

consistent the clamping performance across the range.

In designing the Mlock Jaw system we wanted to have high end performance with real flexibility and long term reliability. We decided to offer a system that incorporate different clamping technologies and gripping profiles optimised for different materials types and workholding setups that require no extra processing like prestamping or dovetailing.

For softer materials, jaws designated xxx.SF2G feature:

■ slimer jaw profile for maximum clearance

■ 2 mm step with optimized grip profile for soft materials

■ 15 deg dovetail included for fixture clamping

■ single jaw type for normal or reverse use

■ prehardened and case hardened tool steel

For harder materials, jaws designated xxx.HD3G feature:

■ stronger jaw profile for reliability under heavy clamping.

■ 3 mm step with optimized grip profile for harder materials

■ no prestamping or dovetail clamping needed

■ 15 deg dovetail included for fixture clamping

■ single jaw type for normal or reverse use

■ volume hardened tool steel for long life
