Two Volkswagen models regain ground as the year mark approaches for buybacks and incentives resulting from the emissions violation that impeded the automaker two years ago. The model movement may also signal reconsideration among shoppers for the troubled brand.

Both Korean subcompact cars show momentum ahead of debuting their redesigns in the fall (Accent & Rio). The already redesigned A5 attracts attention amid a refreshed 5 Series, and newcomer Bolt enjoys a strong upward trajectory but may be challenged later this year by Leaf’s impending refresh.
