Flexibility opens up new perspectives.   Heidelberg CCS.

A simple workflow is the key to cost-effective production and highest value. Let the Heidelberg CCS 510 narrow-web folding carton system open up completely new perspectives. The Compact Converting System is designed for straight- forward job flows and high added value. Thanks to fast changes of ink, tool or whole process, the Heidelberg CCS 510 is the perfect solution for producing folding cartons in a single operation from roll to finished die-cut blanks. Based on a platform concept, the Heidelberg CCS 510 enables an order-oriented machine configuration. Flexible plug-in modules for screen printing, hot foil embossing, cold foil stamping and lamination allow you to selectively apply different finishing processes for attractive and particular reliable products. Short setup and changeover times are another highlight of the CCS which meet highest efficiency requirements. Servo-driven technology as well as user-friendly sleeve sys-tems make the CCS economically profitable and user-friendly.

Equipped for every challenge.  Folding cartons.

With the CCS billions of folding cartons – both with just a few value-adding elements as well as highly decorated folding cartons – are produced every year.

The alternative solution for highly-finished folding car-tons. Perfect. Fast. Efficient. Top quality printing and often complex finishing is required for cosmetic packag-ing. Laminating of metalized or transparent foils often combined with backside printing and hot foil stamping not only makes packaging more attractive but also opens up an enormous potential for savings to be made thanks to the inline process. Applications in the food, confec-tionery and tobacco sectors often require tactile effects that appeal to the senses. A further requirement of these industries is the processing of water-based inks.

Unbeatable cost-effectiveness combined with maximum flexibility. The Heidelberg CCS inline system provides an extremely cost-effective production of complex, high quality paperboard products such as folding cartons, blis-ter cards, display packaging as well as cups and sleeves. Short setup and changeover times are another highlight of the CCS which meet highest efficiency requirements for short and medium run lengths due to the entire usage of servo-controlled drive technology and user-friendly sleeve systems. In addition, low makeready waste from the short web path enhances the economic viability of the CCS.

The freely positionable laminating module sup-ports both metalized and transparent foils.

The cold foiling module works in conjunction with the preceding printing unit which optimally pre-pares the finishing by applying adhesive.

The printing of security inks or micro particles such as glitter is easily processable with screen printing.

High embossing forces ensure particularly fine, detailed embossing and uncompromising finishing quality.

You can add rotogravure printing decks to achieve elegant, strong and metallic colors that only gra-vure printing can deliver.

The master control panel combines comfort with extensive diagnostic features. An intuitive control concept and process-oriented operator guidance reduce setup times and increase productivity.

For unrestricted readiness for use:  Fitness checks and preventive maintenance.

• Regular maintenance keeps your machine in top condition for daily production

• Customized maintenance plans break down maintenance tasks

• Fitness checks serve to identify wear parts• Elimination of faults before they lead to down-

times and early determination of service part requirements

6 Backside printingThrough appropriate web guidance backside printing can be realized in each printing unit.

7 Cold foiling moduleFinishing makes the difference. Achieve highly attractive metallic effects with cold foil application.

8 UV systemThe efficient UV system provides fast UV curing. The inte-grated chill rollers avoid excessive temperature increase of the web.

9 Hot foil stampingHot foil stamping gives each product an elegant design.

10 Screen printing unitWith screen printing you achieve brilliant special effects with metallic inks like gold and silver, and apply tactile effects such as braille, symbols or logos with an ink layer thickness of up to 300 μm.

11 Hot-air dryerPerfect drying results are achieved with efficient hot-air dryers.

12 Gravure printing unitThe full surface application of inks and metalized colors as well as finishing with solvent-based inks are unique in gravure printing.

13 Machine outfeedThe outfeed unit maintains web tension and prevents register varia-tions by isolating downstream processes.

14 Rotary window punching Window punching can be performed at any point in the production pro-cess as the positioning of the module is ultimately variable.

15 Flatbed die-cutter Heidelberg FSM 510By directly integrating the flatbed die-cutter in the inline process, manufacturing your print jobs from roll to finished die-cut blank in a single pass becomes reality.

Powerful features yet compact in size. The Heidelberg FSM 510 is exclusively available in a work-ing width of 510 mm (20 in). It is fully servo-driven, with-out any format gears. Web direction is from left to right. Infeed and die-cutting section are followed by an optional available window-stripping unit. Inside the stripping unit, the blanks are separated from the waste matrix. The deliv-ery section denests blanks and delivers them to a shingle conveyor. A stacking device is available on request. All common paperboard grades of up to a thickness of 600 μm (24 pt), virgin or recycled, laminated or not, can be die-cut on the Heidelberg FSM 510. From roll to finished die-cut blank – that’s simplicity!
