FEATURES

OVERVIEW

Doric’s DS1297 Lift to Lock multi point mortice lock is designed for aluminium and hollow metal hinged door applications.

The lever is lifted upward to throw the side projection bolt and the vertical locking rods. Additional functionality can be added to the lockset by the �tting of Doric Furniture with Snib, which then provides a “day latching function” - the ability to secure the lock from outside, without key locking, therefore providing safety when the building is occupied.

It is designed to provide 4 point locking when a shoot bolt rod kit is added.

Installation and �eld serviceability has been enhanced with a “Pull and Twist” reversible bevelled latch bolt and the ability to remove the lock body while the rod connectors slide out from the actuators.

Floating Cam cylinder allows for one side to be operated even when a key is left in the other side of the cylinder

Note - Doric DS1400 Series is not compatable with the DS1297 as this furniture range is not capable of upward furniture motion required for the Lift to Lock functionality.

1/. Check you have the correct components for you lock kit and required installtion. - Lift to lock lock body - 2x Blue plastic”mid guides” - 2x Long rod to lock conenector - 2x Short threaded rod to D bolt connector - 2x D bolt - 1x Rod kit (contains 1.0m & 1.5m rods) - 1x Furniture (handles including spindle) - 1x Cylinder - this must be a lazy cam or �oating cam cylinder (normally ised for seurity door locks) - check the legth of the cylinder is long enough to suit the door thickness and thickness of the furniture plates - 2x End guide to locate and support the D bolt - Doric have a generic D bolt guide available as an option - Many aluminium door assemblies have available (from the extrusion supplier) a plastic end cap that is use for �ush bolts with a D pro�le. In many cases these can be used. - 1x Door jam striker - Doric have a large selecion of strikers available as an option - Shoot bolt top and bottom strikes are not suppied and left to the fabricator to supply depending on their particular requirement

2/. Determine if the installtion is to be either - with the Face Plate surface mounted to the edge of the door section (called Rim Mounted) /or - with the Face Plate �ush mounted with the edge of the door section (called Tab Moiunted - Tab Mounting will required the addition of the DS1299 Tab Fiting Kit

3/. Determin the pitching of the furniture to be �tted as the screw hole pitching is di�erent betwen the 2 options - DS1600 or DS1604 series has dimensions A = 66mm and B = 129mm - DS1500 or DS1504 series has dimensions A = 66mm and B = 122mm

4/. Refer to the correct door preparation sheet for dimensional detail of the door cutouts - Rim Mounted or Tab Mount - Note that door preparation sheet shows holes required at the ends of the door stile to suit the Doric generic D bolt guide. - If a propretarty plastic push in item is being used then disregard these holes

5/. Cut down the rods to suit the door installtion and assemble the connectors onto the rods - Refer to Rod Length and Assembly page.

6/. Fit the top and bottom Mid Guides - �x into place with 2x 8G screws for each guide

7/. Fit the assembled top and bottom rod into place by sliding the long lock connector through the mid guides.

8/. Slide the lock body into the door cut out while ensuring the rod connector slided into the lock body acutators.

9/. Fit the rod end guide to support the D bolt.

10/. Fit the cylinder

11/. Fit the furntiure

12/. Check the operation of the lock - upward handle motion to throw the bolts - snib operation to lock the handles - key operation to lock the lock body

13/. Once the lock is working correctly cut out the required strike detail for the lock body

14/. Drill out suitable hole in the head and sill to receive the vertical shoot bolts when the handle is lifted upward. Thee ned to accept at least a 19mm throw

15/. Make sure the vertical shoot bolts line up with the hole drill in step 14 otherwise the vertical bolts will not throw all the way and cause bining in the lock and door assembly

16/. Carry out �nal inspection an functional check.

Cut Top & Bottom Connecting Tubes.

Use the tube cutting formula to calculate the length of tube required

1. Top stainless steel tube length:TT = Stile Height - Lock Height - 250mmTypical example if stile length = 2300mm and lock height = 1000mm,Top tube length would be 2300-1000-250 = 1050mm.

2. Bottom stainless steel tube length:BT = Lock height - 307mmTypical example if lock height = 1000mmLower tube length would be 1000 - 307 = 693

10mmCrimping of Mid Guide Connector and Threaded Connector into the Tube

1. Insert the short end Mid Guide Connector into the tube and crimp the tube using a plier roughly where the two �at spots on the the mid guide connector are. Ensure that the Connector is secure properly in the tube.

2. Insert the short end of Threaded Conncector into the tube and crimp the tube using a plier roughly where the two �at spots on the Threaded Connector are. Ensure that the Connector is secure properly in the tube.

3. Screw D-bolt Tip onto Threaded Connector. Allow approximately 10mm gap for D-Bolt Tip adjustment.

Fixing of Top & Bottom Mid Guide:1. Top: Hold the tab end of the Mid Guide and Insert it into the extrusion through the Lockbody cutout and align holes on Mid Guide with the two �xing holes on the extrusion. Secure the Mid Guide using 2 x 8G x CSK. XR.UC screw.

2. Bottom: Repeat the same procedure to �x Mid Guide for the bottom section.

Inserting Top & Bottom Rods1. Select top tube assembly and insert it from top end of the extrusion. Ensure that the Mid Guide Connector passes through the slot on the Mid Guide. Rotate the tube to ensurethat �at ends on connector sit and locks into the Mid Guide. This will ensure that Mid Guide Connector is in right orientation when inserting Lockbody as shown in �gure A

2. Repeat the same procedure for inserting bottom rod from the bottom side of the extrusion.

Inserting Lockbody1. Before installing Lockbody, check that the locking pin is located at bottom end of the dead locking slot as shown in �gure B

2. Insert the Lockbody into the Lockbody cutout. Ensure that the top and bottom slide bar on the Lockbody slides and engages with the top and bottom mid guide connectors as shown in �gure C

3. Secure the Lockbody using 2 x 8G x CSK.XR.UC screw.

Installing Cylinder (Only �oating cam cylinder to be used):1. Insert cylinder 3/4 way into the cylinder housing of Lockbody. Rotate the cylinder cam to approximately 50 degrees to align it with the cylinder cam groove on the Lockbody. This will ensure the �oating cam is engaged with the locking bar.

2. Push the cylinder into Lockbody until Cylinder �xing hole aligns with the cylinder �xing hole on front face of the Lockbody.

3. Secure cylinder using a M5 x 50mm CSK screw for a 40mm backset Lockbody (Use M5 x 30mm for a 30mm backset Lockbody).

CYLINDER INSTALLATION

Note:Fitting a cylinder with the cam in the 6 o’clock (verticaly down or cam fully retracted into the cylinder housing) will creat a situation where the cam will not be engaged with the locking bar and the cylinder will not operate. If this occurs the cylinder will need to be removed and re�tted ensuring that the cam is approx 50 degrees out of the cylinder housing to pass through the angled cutout in the lock body to engage with the locking bar.

A �xed cam cylinder will not work in the DS1297 lock body. It must be a Floating (Lazy) cam cylinder, commonly found in security door locking products.
