FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

THANK YOU FOR CHOOSING METHODIST UNIVERSITY. WE ARE LOOKING FORWARD TO MEETING YOU, AND ARE CURRENTLY PREPARING FOR YOUR ARRIVAL!

Beginning in March, students who have paid their enrollment

deposit will receive instructions for completing their housing application, selecting a roommate and choosing a pathway to the First Year Experience (FYE) program. This information will be sent to your Methodist University e-mail account, which will be assigned shortly after you have been accepted.

The FYE program is designed to help first-year students connect with other first-year students in a close-knit Living Learning Community (LLC). A LLC is a group of students residing in the same residential area, interacting academically and socially with other students and faculty members around a shared interest. At Methodist University, every freshman will participate in one of the three LLC’s: Engage, Enrich, or Empower. These LLC’s are an important residential component of the FYE program at Methodist University. More information about the FYE program and pathway selection is enclosed in the First Year Experience brochure.

Please review this brochure, which should answer many of your questions about campus living. If you have a preferred roommate, you will be able to note this information on the housing/pathway selection form which will be sent to your MU e-mail account in March. Your prospective roommate

should request you on his/her form, as well. Mutually-selected roommates should be submitted as soon as possible, with priority given to those who pay housing deposits by May 1. We cannot guarantee that you will get the roommate that you request, but every attempt will be made to honor that request. If you have not selected a roommate, one will be selected for you. We do our best to match individuals by major, sport, pathway and other interest.

Room assignments will be sent to your Methodist University e-mail account starting in June. You will receive contact information for your roommate in this e-mail. Please be advised that all dependent students who have earned less than 62 semester hours must live in University operated residence halls unless they commute from the home of a parent or legal guardian residing within 60 miles of the University. All requests for waivers of this policy must be directed in writing to the dean of students.

If you have questions regarding campus living, please visit the Housing and Residence Life website at www.methodist.edu/housing, send an e-mail to [email protected], or call us at (910) 630-7370.

Have a great year and again, welcome, new Monarch!

Sincerely, Clifton R. Bobbitt Director of Housing and Residence Life

*you must submit your enrollment deposit ($300 for residential and $500 for residential students accepted to the PGA Golf Management program) in order to receive your housing application and instructions.
