HoW caN We Help?STAR Housing

Who are We?STAR Housing is an early intervention and prevention program. This program is an Innovation Action Project, funded by the Victorian Government through the Victorian Homelessness Action Plan, to reduce and prevent homelessness for people at risk of or people experiencing homelessness.

Our overall aim is to ensure that people do not become caught up in a cycle of homelessness by being pro-active with early intervention.

Rural Housing together with 13 health and welfare partners in north-eastern Victoria are working together with families, single adults and young people in private rental.

For tenants We can: Help if you are in arrears.

: Talk to you about your rights and responsibilities.

: Help you negotiate with your landlord or estate agent.

: Support with maintaining your tenancy.

: Assist with anything else that may affect your tenancy.

: If you are under the age of 25, offer a youth specific service.

For estate agents and landlords: We work in close partnership with local real

estate agents. Through early intervention we assist to prevent the costs and inconvenience created by rental arrears, potential homelessness and other tenancy issues.

: Provision of our STAR Housing Property Kit for tenants, with information on how they should maintain their property.

: Provide a web site available 24 hours a day for information and an access point for real estate agents, tenants and service providers.
