Nicolas Prost / Andros Electric Car

The opening round of the 22nd Andros Trophy took

place last weekend at the Val Thorens ice circuit in

the French Alps. More than ever true to its values and

roots, Motul is once more this year the ofcial lubri-

cant of the Trophy which comprises 8 rounds including

a Super Final scheduled to be held at the Stade de

France on 5 March next year.

Mindful of tomorrows challenges, Motul is also

the technical partner there of the Andros Electric

Trophy which, as stated by its name, is a 100% electric

car championship. Inaugurated in December 2009,

this competition is a world rst both from the mar-

keting and technical viewpoints. In cooperation with

Exagon Engineering, the developer of this special race

car, Motul therefore drew on its expertise to develop

a transmission lubricant adapted to this new type of

engine and its specic use conditions.

Last, Motuls involvement also extended to the com-

petition, through its partnership with the Saintloc

Racing Team which is entering a BMW series 1 this

year. At the wheel of this 340 HP racing car, Jean-

Philippe Dayraut (outgoing double champion) and

Thierry Joncoux gave a succession of ne performan-

ces for two days long and nally clinched second place

in the provisional general standings.

Andorra will be the venue next weekend for the second

2010 round. Its a sure bet that Olivier Panis, Jacques

Villeneuve or else Romain Grosjean, both ex-F1 riders,

will be bent on revenge...

A new season is off to a start!

After the Vice Champion titles secured in World MX1,

World MX2 or else World SBK, Motul nished for the

fourth time of the season on the second step of a world

championship thanks to the feat achieved by the Hexis

Aston Martin Racing team. Participating in the very

new FIA GT1 World Championship, the French team

supported technically by Motul indeed won in the two

races run at San Luis last weekend and which counted

for the last round of the 2010 season.

This result, in addition to the podiums secured at Sil-

verstone and at Navarra and, generally speaking, the

ne performances of 2010, allowed the French team

to clinch this honoric place behind the Vitaphone

Racing team, champion for the 6th consecutive year.

Philippe Dumas, team manager, can be proud of

his team which has managed to compel recognition

among the worlds best GT teams.

As for the Nissan Nismos, which, we should remem-

ber, were nishing only their rst full season this year,

the Sumo Power GT team and Swiss Racing team

nished respectively in 6th and 10th place in the 2010

team general standings.

Nismo Festival / Fuji Speedway

Overlooked by famous Mount Fuji, Fuji Speedway hos-

ted last weekend the 14th edition of the Nismo Festival.

Organised by Nissan Motorsports International, this

event has become over the years Nissans annual high

mass, something of a pilgrimage for enthusiasts of the

Japanese brand.

Nissan Nismos DNA was the topic which the orga-

nisers chose for this 2010 edition. In this way, a few

of the brands gems were presented for the greatest

pleasure of the well-informed public who were pleased

to admire genuine living legends on the track. Among

them, the Skyline 2000 GT-R which won the Super GT

in 1989 or else the Nissan R390 GT1 that participated

in the 1998 edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

As for attractions, fuelling demonstrations were orga-

nised with the fans as well as rst-times on the track

on board a Nissan GT-R. Last, the events star attrac-

tion, a Safari-Bus was also on the track alongside the

biggest Japanese racing cars: a fortunate few could

experience track sensations in no closer manner!
