POTENTIAL HEALTH EFFECTS (See Section 11 for toxicological data.)EYE: Solid or dust may cause irritation or corneal injury due to mechanical action. Elevated temperatures

may generate vapor levels sufficient to cause eye irritation.

SKIN: Essentially nonirritating to skin. Mechanical injury only. Skin absorption is unlikely due to physicalproperties. Molten material may burn skin.

INGESTION: Single dose oral toxicity is considered to be extremely low. No hazards anticipated fromswallowing small amounts incidental to handling operations.

INHALATION: Dust may cause irritation to upper respiratory tract. At room temperature, exposure tovapors are unlikely due to physical properties; normal processing temperatures may generate vaporswhich may cause irritation if ventilation is inadequate

SYSTEMIC (OTHER TARGET ORGAN) EFFECTS: No specific data, however, repeated exposures to theunheated material are not anticipated to cause any significant adverse effects. Processing fumes maycause eye and respiratory irritation upon repeated exposure.

CANCER INFORMATION: No relevant information found.

TERATOLOGY (BIRTH DEFECTS): No relevant information found.

REPRODUCTIVE EFFECTS: No relevant information found.

4. FIRST AID

EYE: Flush eyes with plenty of water.

SKIN: Wash off in flowing water or shower.

INGESTION: No adverse effects anticipated by this route of exposure incidental to proper industrialhandling.

5. FIRE FIGHTING MEASURES

FLAMMABLE PROPERTIESFLASH POINT: Not applicable.METHOD USED: Not applicable.

FLAMMABILITY LIMITSLFL: Not applicable.UFL: Not applicable.

HAZARDOUS COMBUSTION PRODUCTS: Under fire conditions polymers decompose. The smokemay contain polymer fragments of varying compositions in addition to unidentified toxic and/or irritatingcompounds. Hazardous combustion products may include and are mot limited to Carbon Monoxide andCarbon dioxide and trace amounts of aromatic hydrocarbons and Hydrogen cyanide.

OTHER FLAMMABILITY INFORMATION: Dense smoke is emitted when burned without sufficientoxygen. Mechanical handling can cause formation of dusts. To reduce the potential for dust explosion,do not permit dust to accumulate.

EXTINGUISHING MEDIA: Water, Carbon dioxide or Dry chemical.

FIRE FIGHTING INSTRUCTIONS: Keep people away. Isolate fire area and deny unnecessary entry.Cool surroundings with water to localize fire zone. Hand held carbon dioxide or dry chemical extinguish-ers may be used for small fires. Soak thoroughly with water to cool and prevent re-ignition.

PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT FOR FIRE FIGHTERS: Wear positive-pressure self-contained breathingapparatus (SCBA) and protective fire fighting clothing (includes fire fighting helmet, coat, pants, boots, and gloves). If protective equipment is not available or not used, fight fire from a protected location orsafe distance.

6. ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES (See Section 15 for Regulatory Information)

PROTECT PEOPLE: Pellets or beads may presents a slipping hazard.

PROTECT THE ENVIRONMENT: Spills should be collected to prevent contamination of waterways. SeeSection 12 for more specific information.

Section 3 – Health DataCARCINOGENICITY IARC, NTP, NIOSH, EPA, OSHA and MAK do not list TETRAHYDROFURAN as a carcinogen.HEALTH EFFECTS: Acute: Inhilation: The material is moderately discomforting to the upper respiratory tract and may be harmful if inhaled. Inhalation of vapor may aggravate a pre-existing respiratory condition. Over exposure by inhalation may result in the irritation of the mucus membrane and cause coughing, chest pains, nausea, dizziness, headache and narcosis. Exposure to high concentrations can affect the central nervous system due to the strong narcotic effect of the material. Concentrations greater than 2500 ppm were required to produce anesthesia in animals. Anaesthetic properties are poor in that onset is delayed and recovery slow. Pronounced hypotensions and marked respiratory hypernea accompany narcosis. Other symptoms include muscular hypotonia and disappearance of corneal reflexes followed by coma and death. Eye: The material is highly discomforting to the eyes, may cause chemical burns and is capable of causing pain and severe conjunctivitis. Corneal injury may develop, with possible permanent impairment of vision, if not promptly and adequately treated. THF applied as a 20% aqueous solution to rabbit eyes produced irritation. Skin: The material is moderately discomforting to the skin and is capable of causing skin reactions, which may lead to dermatitis. Open cuts, abraded or irritated skin should not be exposed to this material. Ingestion: The material is moderately discomforting to the gastrointestinal tract and may be harmful if swallowed. On ingestion tetrahydrofuran may cause liver and kidney damage. Warning: The intake of alcoholic beverages enhances the toxicity effects. Chronic: Repeated exposure has been associated with cytolytic hepatitis and fatty degeneration of the liver. A case history suggests that interaction of THF and enflurane (an anesthetic) may provoke epileptic seizures following surgery. Inhalation of THF at concentrations greater than 3000 ppm, 8hours/day for 20 days produced irritation and evidence of hepatic and renal injury in animals. Male rats inhaling more than 5000 ppm THF for 12 days, 4 hours/day showed signs of systemic intoxication, skin and respiratory irritation, liver function disturbance and abnormalities in glucose function. Muscle acctylcholinesterase activity increased in a concentration-dependent manner in male rats that inhaled 200 ppm for 18 weeks, 6 hours/day. Heptic protein and mixed function oxidasc activity also increased. At 2000 ppm, liver function was inhibited. In a 13 week inhalation study, ataxis was reported in rats at 5000 ppmand narcosis in mice at 1800 ppm. Hepatocytomegaly developed in mice of both sexes at 5000 ppm while uterine atrophy and degeneration of the adrenal cortex was found in female mice. The parent compound of tetrahydrofuran, furan is carcinogenic in rats based on an increase incidence of cholangiocarcinoma and hepatocellular neoplasms of the liver and increased incidences of mononuclear cell leukemia. In male and female mice, furan induced hepatocellular neoplasms and benign pheochromocytomas of the adrenal gland.PRIMARY ROUTES OF ENTRY: Inhalation, Skin TARGET ORGANS: eyes, CNS, skin, respiratory systemMEDICAL CONDITIONS AGGRIVATED BY EXPOSURE: Skin diseases. Section 3 – Health DataHEALTH EFFECTS – Acute and Chronic

Inhalation Headaches, nausea, vomiting, vertigo, dizziness, and coughing at levels above 100 ppm. Exposure above 1000 ppm can cause adverse effects on visual perception and motor skills. Ventricular arrhythmia and very rapid respiration have been observed in individuals exposed to 15000 ppm. High

concentrations or prolonged exposure can cause unconsciousness and even death. Ingestion Single dose toxicity is low to moderate. If vomiting occurs,

Trichloroethylene could be aspirated into the lungs, which could cause chemical pneumonia and systemic effects. Eyes Liquid can cause temporary irritation

with temporary corneal injury. Vapors can irritate eyes. Skin Prolonged or repeated skin contact can cause irritation, defatting of skin, and dermatitis. Absorption of liquid through intact skin possible, resulting in systemic effects. Direct contact with spray can cause frostbite.

Chronic The finding of chronic toxic effects in lab animals may indicate toxicity to humans. Overexposure should be avoided Failureto do so could result in injury, illness, or even death. Chronic overexposure to trichloroethylene have caused liver toxic effects in

experimental animals. Exposure can cause an intolerance to ethyl alcohol.PRIMARY ROUTES OF ENTRY Inhalation, Skin

MEDICAL CONDITIONS AGGRIVATED BY EXPOSURE Alcoholism, acute and chronic liver disease, rhythm disorders of the heart, neuritis, and other disorders of the nervous system.

EMERGENCY FIRST AID PROCEDURESEye Contact: Flush eyes immediately with water for at least 15 minutes. Call a physician.

Skin Contact: Promptly flush area with water. Remove contaminated clothing and shoes. Wash exposed area with soap and water. Wash contaminated clothing and Shoes. Wash exposed area with soap and water. Wash contaminated clothing before re-use. If direct spray, treat for frostbite.

Inhalation: Remove to fresh air. If breathing has stopped, administer artificial respiration.**Get Medical Help at once**Ingestion: Single dose toxicity is low to moderate. If vomiting occurs, trichloroethylene could be aspirated into the lungs, which could cause chemical

pneumonia and systemic effects.**Note to Medical Personnel** Because of increased risk of disturbances of cardiac rhythm (eliciting cardiac disrhythmias), Catecholamine drugs (Epinephrine, Adrenaline) should be used only with special caution and only in situations of emergency life support and only as a last resort.

Section 5 – Physical DataFlash Point (Method Used)………………..None (TCC) Flammable limits LEL = 8% UEL = 10.5%Flammability limits are based on the min/max LEL/UEL of the components.Ignition temperature…………………..788 FExtinguishing Media: Water, foam, dry chemical, and carbon dioxide – because product is essentially non-flammable, media to control fire in surrounding materials is important.

Special Fire Fighting Procedures: At elevated temperatures, pressurized containers may burst, vent or rupture. Use equipment or shielding to protect personnel against bursting, rupturing or venting containers. Cooling with water streams may be helpful.

Unusual Fire and Explosion Hazards: Concentrated vapors can be ignited by high intensity ignition source. Firefighters should wear self contained, positive-

pressure breathing apparatus, due to thermal decomposition products, and should avoid skin contact.Incompatibility (Materials to Avoid): Strong alkalis, oxidizers, and reactive metals (i.e. potassium, sodium, zinc, magnesium).

Hazardous Decomposition - By Products: Hydrogen chloride, phosgene, chlorine, carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, and possible incompletely burned hydrocarbon products would be expected.Diversified Products Manufacturing Inc. MSDS Manual for Tech Manual Rev 2 Page 47 of 52

Will hazardous Polymerization Occur? No Conditions to Avoid for Polymerization N/AIs the Product Stable? Yes Conditions to Avoid for Stability Avoid contact with open flame, electric arcs, or other hot surfaces that can cause thermal decomposition. Avoid temperatures high enough to rupture container (>120 F)

Section 6 – Spill or Leak ProceduresSteps to be taken in Case Materials are Released or Spilled Evacuate and ventilate area. Avoid breathing vapors. Remove sources of ignition. Ventilate area to reduce concentration of the components below their exposure limits. Use protective equipment consistent with the situation. Pick up the spill on absorbent material: store in closed containers for proper disposal. Avoid contamination of ground and surface waters. Do not flush to sewer. If spill occurs indoors, turn off air conditioning and/or heating system, to prevent vapors from contaminating entire building.

Waste Disposal Methods Recovered liquids can be sent to a licensed reclaimer or incineration facility. Contaminated material must be disposed of in a permitted waste management facility. Consult Federal, State, or Local disposal authorities for approved procedures.

When empty (zero pressure), open valve fully and break off plastic T-handle to keep valve from being closed. Since residue remains when tank is empty, leave label on. Dispose of tank according to local regulations. Where possible, please recycle.

Section 7 – Exposure Control InformationVentilation Local Exhaust, or mechanical or special ventilation to maintain exposure limits generally are not required if adequate ventilation is provided. If the exposure limit of the product or any of its components is exceeded, an approved organic vapor mask should be used (consult your safety equipment supplier). Above 1000 ppm, an approved self-contained breathing apparatus or airline respirator with full face-piece is required

Protective Gloves Wear solvent-resistant gloves such as Viton, Polyvinyl Alcohol, or equivalent where prolonged or repeated contact with the spray mist or deposited product is likely.

Other Protective Equipment If contact with the spray is likely, eye protection is recommended. Chemical mono-goggles or safety glasses with side shields and face shield will provide protection in most situations. Do not wear contact lenses.

Other Engineering Controls: To determine exposure levels, monitoring should be performed. Eyewash station should be available.

Work Practices Do not use in confined or closed space. Ventilation should maintain the concentration of the product and its components below their exposure limits.

Hygienic Practices Avoid contact with skin and avoid breathing vapors. Do not eat , drink, or smoke in work area. Wash hands before eating, drinking, or using restroom after using this or any chemical product.

Section 8 – Special PrecautionsPrecautions to be taken in Handling and Storage. Store in cool, dry area out of direct sunlight. Do not puncture, burn, or store above 120F.

Maintenance Precautions Do not remove or deface label.

Other Precautions Vapors are heavier than air and will collect in low areas. Read and follow directions and cautions on the container label, and any accompanying literature.
