Ms. Boccardi is the International Baccalaureate (IB) Coordinator, and is entering her fourteenth year in DCPS. Amy taught English as a Second Language (ESL) at Clark Elementary and English 8 at Hardy Middle School. Over the years she has served as the English Department Chair, as well as a member of the Local School Restructuring Team (LSRT), personnel committee and Parent Teacher Association (PTA) Executive Board. She has mentored student teachers and DC Teaching Fellows. Amy holds a bachelor’s degree in English Literature from George Mason University, a master’s degree in Secondary Education from George Mason University, and a Master’s degree in School Building Leadership from Teachers College at Columbia University. She enjoys reading young adult literature, cooking, music and hanging out with her husband and two children. Senorita Bullock is currently a Spanish teacher at Eastern High School. Prior to this role, she was a World Language Master Educator with DC Public Schools. Ms. Bullock began her career in education 12 years ago when she first joined Teach for America and was placed in Long Beach, California. Ms. Boccardi is the International Baccalaureate (IB) Coordinator, and is entering her fourteenth year in DCPS. Mr. Checo-Mendoza is a custodian at Eastern. Before coming to Eastern he ensured the cleanliness and organization of the warehouse for a major electronics store. Mr. Mendoza has recently moved to DC after living in his home country of the Dominican Republic and then in Detroit, Michigan. Mr. Mendoza is really excited about this year and is very eager to learn new things from his veteran Eastern team members. Mr. Mendoza is a dog-lover and owns seven Chihuahuas in the Dominican Republic. When he is not overseas, he likes to play with his one dog that lives with him here in DC named Watson.

Ms. Cole has served as a teaching assistant since 1997. Her role consists of assisting in various ways, including with assignments given by their teachers. Ms. Cole also works helping teenage girls at a residential facility as a a residential counselor. Ms. Cole graduated from DCPS in 1989 and earned an Associates degree in Paralegal Studies from Everest College. Ms. Cole has three sons: Kevin, 22; Leonard, 20 and Darrell, 18.

Mr. Dempsey is Eastern’s inclusion teacher specializing in math. This will be Mr. Dempsey’s fourth year on the Eastern staff although he has been an educator for twelve years. In his role as athletic director he helps facilitate all school-based athletic activities and has served as the football and softball coach. Mr. Dempsey earned his Bachelor’s degree from University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, hails from Lynchburg, Virginia, and in his spare time likes fishing and playing chess.

Ms. Ebron has served as Registrar since August, 2010. In this role, she manages the student registration process, including the maintenance of the entire student database through DC STARS, all while assisting the successful coordination of our front office. Last year, Ms. Ebron designed Eastern’s electronic yearbook for the senior class. Prior to her transition to Eastern, she supported the successful registration and opening of Phelps Architecture, Construction, and Engineering High School. Before her work at the high school level, she served as a preschool teacher at St. Philips Child Development Center. Ms. Ebron is a graduate of Dunbar Senior High School and holds a certification in Child Development from the University of the District of Columbia. She enjoys children's party planning and spending quality time with her daughter Ashari.

Mr. Fisher is Eastern’s Music teacher. After a brief stint as a band director in the Prince Georges County Public School System, Dr. Fisher, a native born Washingtonian, returned home to begin teaching music for DCPS at Eastern. Mr. Fisher received his Associate Director of Bands Doctorate of Arts and Master of Music from the University of Mississippi and his Bachelor of Arts from Hampton University. He is an active freelance musician, private teacher and conductor in the greater DC area.

Ms. Good teaches English at Eastern. In June of 2011, she moved from Boston, where she taught ninth- and tenth-grade English for two years at Revere High School (RHS). At RHS, Ms. Good's students focused on Homer, Shakespeare, Dickens, Dickinson, Junot Diaz, Marjane Satrapi, and Rita Williams-Garcia and mastered the rigorous MCAS English exam that Massachusetts students take in grade 10. She helped restart the school’s Drama Guild, which produced "Silence is Not Enough," a series of dramatic vignettes written by students. She holds her Masters in Curriculum and Teaching from Boston University and her Bachelors in French and Studies in Women and Gender from the University of Virginia. Ms. Good enjoys singing, reading, running, yoga, dancing, traveling, her family, and her dog, Lizzy.

Ms. Gordon is Eastern’s special education teacher. She has worked in special education in DCPS for six years. Ms. Gordon has also served DCPS as a Special Education Coordinator for two years and a Program Coordinator/Monitor for the Division of Vocational and Technical Education employing and training youth for employment within the District of Columbia. She has a Master’s degree in school counseling and special education from Trinity University and a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Maryland, College Park. In her spare time, Ms. Gordon likes to listen to music, travel and cook.

Mr. Harris is an inclusion teacher at Eastern this year and has served as an inclusion teacher since 2009. Prior to his transition to Eastern, he served as a Special Education teacher for 2 years at Anacostia SHS, and a social studies/special education teacher for 11 years at the Oak Hill Youth Center for troubled youth. Mr. Harris holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from St. Paul’s College. In 2001, he received extensive training and coursework in education at the University of the District of Columbia. Mr. Harris enjoys spending quality time with his daughter Samia and attending sporting events.

Mr. Hartheimer is a member of the biology teaching team at Eastern. While in college, Adam was an active member in a number of West Philadelphia educational initiatives, including partnerships with local neighborhood schools to promote the sciences. In addition, Adam has led medical service and educational programs in South America to assist rural families in need. Proud to call Washington, DC his hometown, he is a recent graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, holding a degree in Neuroscience and Spanish. Outside of the classroom, Adam enjoys speaking Spanish and has traveled extensively through South America and Spain. Inspired by this great city, he is excited to explore the array of opportunities it provides to study the natural world.

Mr. Headen is a Teaching Assistant for the Individualized Education Plan at Eastern. Before coming to Eastern, Mr. Headen was a member of the team that managed the Summer Youth Employment Program this year; training thousands of youth in work readiness as well as managing over 60 work sites across the District of Columbia. Before that, Mr. Headen served as an afterschool tutor at Garfield Elementary School in Southeast, DC for two years. He assisted the afterschool program coordinator in running the program as well as worked to improve the reading comprehension skills of students in 4th and 5th grade. Mr. Headen is a recent graduate from American University and in his spare time he likes to write songs, read up on investing, and prepare for his future.

Mr. Hodges is a part of the custodial team at Eastern. Before coming to Eastern, Mr. Hodges worked for several years in professional maintenance and heating and air conditioning. Mr. Hodges has had training in culinary arts and has worked in one of Philadelphia’s finest hotels. Mr. Hodges loves God, food and hard work and in his spare time he likes to play tennis and basketball and was excited to learn that Eastern has its own courts. Mr. Hodges has a 12 year old daughter and enjoys taking care of Eastern the way her school takes care of her.

Ms. Hofmann is a Special Education Teacher here at Eastern. For the last eight years, prior to joining the Eastern team, she worked with individuals ranging in age from 10-22 living with autism at both Cardozo Senior High School and The Harbour School of Baltimore. She has assisted with curricula writing aimed at integrating standards with performance based assessments. Before her work within the school setting, she was a Child Life Counselor at a residential treatment center. She holds a Master of Arts in Teaching from Goucher College and a Bachelors of Science degree in Psychology and Sociology from Towson University. During summer breaks she enjoys traveling and scuba diving.

Ms. Jarrard is the Read 180 teacher at Eastern. Prior to coming to Eastern, Ms. Jarrard was a founding high school biology and English teacher at KIPP Delta Collegiate High School in Helena, Arkansas as a Mississippi Delta Teach For America corps member. Following her time in the Delta, she taught at a technology-enriched charter school in Alpharetta, Georgia and then moved to Washington D.C. in the fall of 2009 to attend graduate school. While in graduate school, Ms. Jarrard interned in the DC Public Schools central office and then served as an intern on the Eastern Planning Team from January until July of 2011. She holds a bachelors of arts degree in English and a bachelors of science degree in Psychology from the University of Georgia as well as a Master's of public policy degree from Georgetown University. Ms. Jarrard enjoys reading, running, and watching college football.

Mr. Kakulu is an Assistant Dean of Students at Eastern Senior High School. Prior to his role at Eastern he worked for Boston’s anti-poverty agency, Action for Boston Community Development (ABCD), as a Youth Services Specialist. In this capacity, Mr. Kakulu helped to find employment for youth ages 14-21. He also managed a case load of 30+ youth, monitoring each individual’s worksite, work ethic, and relationship with worksite supervisors. In May of 2011, Mr. Kakulu received two Bachelors’ of Science degrees from the first Historically Black College/University (HBCU), Lincoln University, in Political Science and Mass Communications, with a concentration in Print Journalism. As a brother of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Incorporated, Mr. Kakulu has an affinity for giving back and serving others. He loves basketball and aspires to attend and graduate from law school.

Mr. Lubliner-Walters has served as the Visual Arts teacher at Eastern for the past four years. Before teaching at Eastern, Mr. Walters worked as a substitute teacher in Howard County and as a Teacher of English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) in Alajuela, Costa Rica. It was during this time that Mr. Walters discovered his love for teaching and decided to combine it with his love of art. The strongest aspects of Mr. Walters’s teaching style are the individual relationships that he builds with his students. In July of 2011, Mr. Walters was honored with the Teacher of the Year award for his work in the classroom. He holds a Bachelor’s of Arts in Art Studio from the University of Maryland and a Master’s of Arts in Teaching in Secondary Education from American University. Mr. Walters loves to work on his own art and specializes in painting, printmaking, and collage. He also enjoys dancing, exercising, and spending time with friends and family.

Ms. Marshall-Ferguson is an inclusion teacher at Eastern. She is currently in her seventh year of teaching and has three years of experience managing an after school tutoring program for at-risk youth. Mrs. Ferguson holds a Master’s degree in teaching from Bowie State University and a Bachelor’s degree in sociology from Georgia State University. Her writing credits include three books: Diamondz Are Forever; Sapphire’s Pain: Poetry & Truth; and Angel & A Gem. Mrs. Ferguson is dedicated to making a positive difference in the lives of today’s youth and hopes to prove that no matter how difficult life may be, success is possible with a positive attitude and perseverance.

Mr. McCammon will be teaching Principles of Biomedical Science. This course provides an introduction to the biomedical sciences through exciting hands-on projects and problems. Mr. McCammon is bringing 14 years of teaching experience to Eastern and from 2003 to 2010, Mr. McCammon had a 100% passing rate on the State Biology Exam for Mississippi. Mr. McCammon has also taught as an adjunct instructor for Holmes Community College for the past five years teaching Principles of Biology, General Biology, and Nutrition. In 2003 and in 2006, Mr. McCammon was awarded the Metro Chamber of Commerce “Top Teacher” award and in 2006 was awarded the Pisgah High School Teacher of the Year, Rankin County Teacher of the Year, and the Third Congressional District of Mississippi Teacher of the Year. Mr. McCammon has a Master’s Degree in Natural Science from Delta State University. He enjoys science fiction, working with computers and learning new ways to use technology to enhance education.

Ms. McDuffie is Eastern’s Assistant Principal. With nearly 15 years of experience, in both teaching and administration, those who get to know her are fascinated to learn she discovered her passion as early as age seven, when she would engage in her favorite pastime: playing school. She values the opportunity to live her dream here at Eastern Senior High School doing all she can to support teachers, students, and families. Ms. McDuffie is a graduate of The Pennsylvania State University where she earned a Bachelor’s in Secondary Education, English and Teachers College at Columbia University where she earned a Master’s in Curriculum and Instruction. She is a bona-fide New Yorker who loves to cook and play tennis though she admits that she could use help with the latter!

Senor Molchany will be teaching Spanish at Eastern Senior High School and is new to DCPS, having taught for the last two years in Prince George's County. Previously, Andrew taught Spanish 1, 2 and International Baccalaureate Spanish to juniors and seniors in an IB diploma program. In addition to teaching, Mr. Molchany served as the Co-School Improvement Coordinator and student advisor in the pre-diploma program for ninth and tenth graders. As a coach, Mr. Molchany founded a co-ed golf team and was the assistant girls' varsity softball coach at his previous school. Mr. Molchany's undergraduate degree is a Bachelor of Arts in Modern Foreign Languages from James Madison University and his master's degree is a Master of Arts in Teaching from American University. In his spare time, Mr. Molchany enjoys playing and coaching golf, fishing, and relaxing with his Labrador retriever.

Mr. Nash is Eastern’s Assistant Principal. Prior to joining our school community, he was the Assistant Principal at Ballou Senior High School for three years, where he supervised the ninth grade academy. He began at Ballou as Dean of Students, developing positive school culture and intervention strategies with staff, students, and families. He has served many roles in his 17 years in the profession, including a Special Education teacher and coordinator. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, a Masters of Arts and Teaching from Goucher College, and is a doctoral candidate at Walden University. Mr. Nash enjoys entrepreneurial ventures and has opened a restaurant in his hometown of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Mr. Neal is on Eastern’s custodial staff and is in his 12th year serving in this role at Eastern. Before coming to Eastern, Mr. Neal worked as a car detailer at Comer Caddilac. Mr. Neal is really excited about the new Eastern staff and really enjoys working on a team where everyone is productive, consistent and working together. Mr. Neal hails from Washington, DC and graduated from Coolidge Senior High School. In his spare time, Mr. Neal loves listening to oldies music and fishing.

Mr. Neal is the Parent Coordinator at Eastern. In this role Mr. Neal is responsible for working with parents, families and caregivers to foster involvement in the school community to help students achieve academically and socially. Prior to his role, Mr. Neal worked with students, families and community-based organizations to build strong partnerships with schools. Mr. Neal has a Master of Social Work from Boston University and a Bachelors of Science from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Mr. Neal is passionate about his family and is an avid runner.

Ms. Olaiya is a World History I teacher and has worked as an educator in DC for four years. She has taught various topics including cultural studies, nutrition, swimming, film, poetry, and yoga in the San Francisco Bay Area, Northern California, and New Orleans. Her experience began at a community treatment facility for teens. Much of her practice focuses on connecting students’ real life experience to history, social justice and art by using media literacy, technology and group work. She currently holds a Bachelor's Degree in International Women's Studies and a Master's of Education in Secondary Education Social Studies. She enjoys training and competing in triathlons and sailing.

Ms. Opiotennione is the Dean of Students at Eastern. Prior to this role, she served as the Dean of Students at Hyde Leadership Public Charter School. There she managed a 700+ school student body Pre-K-8th grade, by being the steward of the process in a Character Culture. She taught Health and Physical Education, Math, Language Arts, and French before becoming the Dean of Students. Mrs. Opiotennione holds a Bachelors of Arts degree in French from The University of the District of Columbia. In her spare time, she likes to swim, teach swimming, and spend time with her family.

Ms. Osore is the Coordinator of School Affairs at Eastern. Prior to this role, she was a Program Assistant for the Office of Principal Human Capital Strategy for DC Public Schools. There she managed a 700+ school leader applicant selection process, designed online tools, and coordinated various programs. She has also served as a Human Resources Associate for DCPS. Ms. Osore has worked with teenagers in Brooklyn cultivating an urban farm and has taught writing to youth aged 5 to 16 in Northeast Washington, D.C. She holds a bachelors of science degree in Urban and Regional Studies from Cornell University. In her spare time, she likes to scavenge for free things to do in DC and work at her local farmers market.

Ms. Parker is an Administrative Assistant at Eastern. Serving in various educational capacities for over 15 years, Kimberly joined the Eastern team in 2010 by way of Prince George’s County Public Schools where she was a Parent Liaison. Mrs. Parker’s accomplishments include building and sustaining partnerships with local and national businesses and organizations, coordinating successful trips abroad to Europe and Canada for the student body, and increasing parental engagement by over 90%. Mrs. Parker is a professional writer and published author who helped Eastern make history in 2011 when the Writing Club published their first book of poetry and short stories. Mrs. Parker is a graduate of The University of Maryland University College and holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Management Studies. Mrs. Parker is married with four children and enjoys spending quality time with her family, traveling, and of course, writing.

Ms. Pile is a mathematics teacher at Eastern. Prior to this she served as a Math Specialist for Perry Street Preparatory- formerly Hyde Leadership Public Charter School- for two years and a math teacher at Options Public Charter School for one year. Giselle is going into her fourth year as a teacher and has a Master’s degree in Mathematics from Loyola University of Chicago and Bachelor’s degree from Western New England University. Giselle enjoys running, tasting various types of food, and spending time with family and friends.

Mr. Reing, is an English teacher at Eastern. Prior to teaching at Eastern, he taught at Trenton High School in New Jersey for four years. While there, he taught an honor literature course, reading intervention course, and a leadership course to seniors. After school hours, he worked with “Hands Across the Water” as a mentor to students. The past few summers, he taught a writing workshop to top-performing students at Princeton University. Mr. Reing, is a Philadelphia native and graduated Cum Laude in 2007 from Seton Hall University with a Bachelor of Science in Education. There, he was the founder and President of the SEA Pirates, a club for secondary education students geared toward providing future educators with teaching experiences. In his spare time, Brian enjoys playing tennis, training for marathons and traveling.

Mr. Robinson has been the Special Education Coordinator at Eastern since 2009. Mr. Robinson, along with a dedicated team of professionals at Eastern and at Office of Special Education (OSE), are responsible for providing a quality educational environment, social, transition and related services to students with disabilities. Mr. Robinson believes that all students can achieve educational success when the appropriate services are in place and adults are committed to developing our student’s academically and socially. Mr. Robinson is a proud alumnus of the Eastern class of 1981 and holds a Master’s degree in Transition Special Education from George Washington University. Mr. Robinson is an accomplished vocalist, mentor to student athletes

and the proud father of two daughters (Alexis and Jada) who are the love of his life.

Mrs. Robinson is an inclusion teacher at Eastern Senior High School. Before teaching at Eastern, Mrs. Robinson spent two years working at The Lab School of Washington specializing in arts-based instruction for students diagnosed with language learning disabilities. Mrs. Robinson previously worked as the Arts Integration Catalyst Coordinator at Ludlow Taylor ES. Mrs. Robinson began her undergraduate studies as a Theater major at Muhlenberg College, transferred to University of North Carolina, Greensboro and earned a Bachelor’s degree with honors in Cultural and Linguistic Anthropology. After teaching in Greensboro for two years, Mrs. Robinson moved to DC to attend graduate school at American University and received a Master’s in Special Education: Learning Disabilities. In her spare time, Mrs. Robinson practices and performs with Sahara Dance Company, specializing in Middle Eastern fusion Dance.

Ms. Short is Eastern’s Attendance Counselor and provides school-based support to ensure the improvement of local school attendance. She started her career in education in 1986 at McKinley Technical Senior High School as an educational aide and was promoted to guidance clerk and typist where she received the Principal’s Award of Excellence. She came to Eastern in 1997 and served as an administrative assistant before being promoted to attendance counselor. In addition to her formal roles, Ms. Short has volunteered for numerous school initiatives including the Public Safety Cadet Program, Mentors Inc., college/university recruiting. Ms. Short graduated from H.D. Woodson Senior High School here in the District and earned a Dental Technician Certification from Georgetown

University before realizing her biggest dream and interest was to help children and people. Outside of work, Ms. Short is devoted to her husband and children. Ms. Short’s hobbies include running and cooking. She and her husband can often be seen serving as mentors to young adults and riding on their motorcycle.

Ms. Skerritt is the principal of Eastern Senior High School. Prior to her transition to Washington, D.C., she was Chief of Staff for the Boston Public Schools, serving as the primary point person for the Superintendent and liaison to the School Committee. Before working in central office, she held the position of Headmaster at Another Course to College, a Boston Public pilot high school. Her career in education began at Boston Latin School, where she taught English Literature for seven years. A published novelist, Ms. Skerritt has also authored screenplays, short stories, and pop culture articles. She received undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of Pennsylvania and earned a Masters in Educational Leadership from the University of Massachusetts, Boston. Principal Skerritt enjoys traveling to new places, shopping at Eastern Market, and attending Beyonce concerts whenever possible.

Ms. Stalnaker is a World History I teacher. Prior to working at Eastern, she was an Assistant Principal, Department Chair, and History teacher at Hyde Leadership Public Charter School for the past 13 years. Ms. Stalnaker has a bachelor's degree in History and German from Washington University in St. Louis, a master's degree in International Studies from Johns Hopkins University/SAIS, and teacher certification from Trinity University in Washington, DC. When she isn't teaching, Ms. Stalnaker is busy with her two children, Natalie (age 7) and Jamie (age 5). She also loves to cook, travel, dance, do yoga, learn new languages,

spend time in nature, and participate in any activities related to water.

Mr. Strickland is Eastern’s mathematics teacher. A native of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, Mr. Strickland has worked as an educator at the middle and high school levels for eight years. He believes that a strong foundation in mathematics is the key to educational and career success. He holds a degree in math from one of the greatest historically black universities, North Carolina A&T State University. Athletics have been a part of his life since childhood; he enjoys playing and coaching football, basketball and baseball. Mr. Strickland is an avid Carolina Tarheels and Cowboys fan.

Mr. Titus is entering his first year as a member of the Eastern staff as the Assistant Dean of Students. Prior to joining the Ramblers, Mr. Titus worked as a case manager for the Action for Boston Community Development, Inc., (ABCD) one of the largest non-profit organizations in Massachusetts. In his various roles with ABCD, Mr. Titus helped connect clients to services like housing, emergency shelter, health insurance, child care resources, job development and job training programs. Mr. Titus graduated from the University of Massachusetts at Boston with a bachelor’s degree in Africana Studies and will be attending Georgetown University this fall to pursue a Master’s degree in Sports Industry Management.

Ms. Tolson is in her third year as a Teaching Assistant at Eastern. Ms. Tolson performs clerical and instructional duties, provides classroom support and assists with daily exercises such as classroom transitions during breakfast and lunch periods, and on field trips. Ms. Tolson is a Certified Office Specialist and Certified Application Specialist. Previously, Ms. Tolson has worked for DC Public Charter School for six years as a Guidance Assistant. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her family.

Ms. Townsend is one of Eastern’s new Biology teachers. She taught for four years at Southern High School in Durham, North Carolina. Every summer, Ms. Townsend teaches science to elementary students in North Carolina. She enjoys learning about science and sharing her love of science to all she encounters. Ms. Townsend taught Forensic Science, Anatomy & Physiology, and two levels of Biology. She is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she majored in both biology and studio art, and Wake Forest University, where she completed her master’s degree in Science Education. In her free time she enjoys drawing, painting, reading National Geographic, and exploring new places.

Mr. Turner Jr. is Eastern’s Social Worker. Prior to ESHS, La Vaughn worked as a Special Education Social Worker at Anacostia High School for seven years. In Mr. Turner's first year with DCPS he was highlighted in the Office of Special Education's "Best of the Best" award ceremony for his work developing "Manthink", a social skill building, manhood training program focused on teen fathers. Mr. Turner also facilitated several community partnership programs including Superleaders, Teen Alliance for Prepared Parenting, DC Healthy Families, and the Digital Media Arts Club (DMAC) sponsored by Howard University and WHUT. DMAC recently highlighted Mr. Turner for his work at Anacostia to prevent bullying. Mr. Turner holds clinical social work licenses in DC and MD. He obtained a Bachelor of Social Work Degree from Norfolk State University and a Master of Social Work degree from Howard University. A native Washingtonian, Mr. Turner remains in DC with his wife and three children. In his spare time he likes to attend local theater venues and coach youth sports.

Ms. Tyler will be joining us this academic year as the College and Career Advisory Coordinator. She is a proud alumnus of Eastern Senior High School where she was a member of the Washington Post 500 Club and the marching band. Ms. Tyler’s passion for youth studies and urban education was developed and nurtured at Georgetown University where she earned her undergraduate degree in English and participated in the Kids2College program. Her work as a middle school English instructor in Washington, D.C. inspired her master’s level studies in counseling at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, M.D. During her time in Baltimore, she conducted writing workshops and counseled ninth grade boys at the P.R.A.I.S.E. Academy and Edmondson-Westside

High School. Ms. Tyler loves to visit art museums, dance and decorate homemade cupcakes in her free time.

Mr. White is a Physical Education teacher at Eastern. He has been teaching in DCPS for three years, starting off at Eliot-Hine Middle School as a Physical Education teacher and athletic director. In addition, he took on the roles as the head football, baseball, and assistant basketball coach. One of the main reasons he wanted to become a teacher and coach is because he loves working with young people. He is a graduate of Howard University where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education. Mr. White’s lifelong dream is to become a Division I football coach.

Ms. Whiteman is the co-teacher for Physical and Health Education at Eastern. Prior to this role she worked for Interior Design magazine in New York City as an Integrated Media Coordinator and Account Manager. In this role, Danielle managed Interior Design’s digital catalog library and acted as the principal point of contact for all preferred clients. She worked with over 100 companies to prepare and publish their product marketing materials online. Danielle attended Boston College and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications with a minor in Sociology. She is a Jackie Robinson Foundation alumnus scholar and volunteers for the organization every year. In her free time, Danielle loves to paint, write poetry, and bike around the city.

Ms. Wilson has been a school counselor with DCPS for eleven years, serving at Eastern for four of them. Mrs. Wilson was recognized as Eastern’s Employee of the Year in 2010 as well as the DC College Access Program’s School Counselor of the Year in 2010. Prior to her arrival at DCPS, Mrs. Wilson worked in public education in Florida and Texas as a middle and high school teacher of students with special needs. Mrs. Wilson began her post-secondary education at North Carolina Central University before transferring to Columbia College where she earned at bachelors in Psychology. She holds a Master of Arts in Counseling from Webster University and completed doctoral course work in Child and Youth Studies at Nova Southeastern University. An avid lover of athletics, Mrs. Wilson is extremely visible at DCPS sporting events cheering on the Ramblers. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, reading, and writing.

Ms. Wilson-Ross has served as Business Manager at Eastern since August, 2008. She began her career with DCPS in 1993 at Garnet-Patterson Middle School. Ms. Wilson manages the Student Activity Fund, timekeeping, property and textbooks. She lends her talents to the homeless and needy kids, while managing the various building usage agreements. During football and basketball seasons, Ms. Wilson can be found cooking hotdogs and serving chips, soda and candy at the Rambler concession stand. Ms. Wilson attended McKinley Technical Senior High, the University of the District of Columbia, and Howard University. She

received a Business Management Institute Certificate from the University of Maryland Eastern Shore in 1988. She enjoys the performing arts, gardening and is looking forward to many successes in the upcoming school year.

Mr. Woodfork is the custodial foreman at Eastern. Before starting with DC Public Schools in 1997 working as a gardener at Eastern and a foreman’s assistant at Phelps, Mr. Woodfork managed his own landscaping company for 21 years. Mr. Woodfork graduated from our beloved Eastern Senior High School in 1981 and completed two years of mortuary science classes at the University of the District of Columbia. In his spare time (we’re not sure where he gets it), he enjoys old music, old cars and outdoor sports like fishing, boating and hunting.

Mr. Wright is a teaching assistant at Eastern. Mr. Wright joined DCPS in 2005 as a middle school In School Suspension Coordinator and educational aide. Mr. Wright also worked in Prince Georges County Public Schools from 1998-2005 as a long-term substitute teacher. Mr. Wright graduated from Eastern in 1977 and was a basketball All-American. He went on to Howard University where he majored in physical education and had his basketball jersey retired. Mr. Wright serves as the head basketball coach at Eatern. Mr. Wright enjoys playing golf, TV comedies and is really excited to work with Eastern’s incoming class of 2015.
