MUCUSMATTERSBelieve it or not, but mucus is good. Yes, sniffles and snot are signs that your little one’s body is functioning correctly and activating its healing ability. The tissues, tantrums and tears might be difficult to swallow, but it’s a vital part of body function. However, excessive mucus is an excellent me-dium for organism growth, which may lead to infection if left untreated.

Origin

Mucous membranes act as “internal skin” and line all hollow organs and passages. When irritated by foreign or allergic substances, the membranes produce mucus to capture the “invad-ers” and help work them out of the body via sneezing or a running nose. Mucous build-up most commonly affects the throat, nasal passages and lungs.

Triggers

Apart from environmental factors like pollen, dust, cigarette smoke, etc., mucous production is also promoted by food. Common food allergens that stimulate mucous production include dairy, wheat, soy, corn, potatoes, cabbage, bananas, food additives and preservatives. Avoid if intake worsens symptoms.

allergy and mostly accompanied by sneezing. Your little one’s nose will become red and painful as a result of all the wiping required.
