The majority of people who haveasked for a moving quote in 2016 arerelocating locally - 60.47%.There has been no significant changefrom the previous year.

Fewer people have shipped theirvehicles this year (8%), downfrom 10% last year.

It turns out that the size of the shipments has increased over this year,which is definitely good for business. There has been a decline of almost14% in 1-bedroom home moves, whereas there has been an increase in 2, 3and 4-bedroom home moves. It seems that people are moving into biggerhomes. Also, more people have moved single items.

Things haven’tchanged much when itcomes to choosing amoving day. Friday isthe busiest day in theindustry. We areseeing a slight declinein Sunday moves.After all, Sunday is the day to take it easy,right?

The busiest day in the movingindustry this year has been June30th. August 1st and June 1sthave been the second and thirdbusiest days.

We are seeing an increase inspring and early fall moves,and a decrease in summermoves.Although summer stillaccounts for the largestamount of moves during theyear, it turns out that moreAmericans have decided topostpone their moves forthe fall or to move outbefore the busy season.

We do not see any changesin the first four positionsfrom last year - California,Florida, Texas and NewJersey are the most popularstates for local moves.

This year Illinois has made

it in the Top 5, Ohio hasdropped out of the Top

10,and Maryland has

climbedup to Position 7.

In 2016 we are seeing a dropin the moves to California.In fact, the most popularroute was out of The GoldenState.

New Yorkers still love movingto Florida. And it seems thatWashington is becoming moreand more attractive, especiallyfor Californians.

Florida still holds the first position for inbound moves, North Carolina hasleapfrogged Washington, and Arizona has moved up two positions.

On the other specter of the migration flow, Michigan has seen the mostoutflow of people, while Virginia and Pennsylvania come second and thirdrespectively.

Seattle has snatched the prestigious first place from Denver as the city withthe largest inbound population flow. Charlotte, as the rookie in our inboundcities list, goes straight into third place.

In our outbound cities list things remain roughly the same - Chicago hasmanaged to take the lead from New York City, while Washington DC remainsin solid third position.
