When selecting your move date, keep in mind that most people want to move at the end of the month or on a

weekend. For more options and flexibility, mid-week in the middle of a month is normally a better time to schedule a move. If you are buying a new home, if at all possible, try not to

schedule the delivery of your belongings at your new location on the same day you close on your new home. In our experience, legal and financial delays can hold up a closing.

Please do not plan other activities during the days selected for packing, loading, and delivery of your belongings. You or someone you designate must be present during the

service to oversee the process and sign the applicable documents.

PRIOR TO MOVING DATE

During the initial pre-move survey by our Arpin representative, be

sure to point out any items you feel will need special services (i.e., pool tables, waterbeds, jungle gyms or swing sets, ice makers, specialized exercise equipment, etc.). You

should also point out family

heirlooms, antiques, or items of sentimental value that cannot be replaced.

Be prepared to provide your Arpin representative with information on how they may contact you throughout the moving process. This would include new residence

telephone numbers, cell phone numbers, email addresses, or hotel numbers where you can be reached.

If your belongings are to be

delivered to two locations (i.e., temporary residence and storage), please plan ahead. It is important that you separate your belongings by location so that you have what

you need in your temporary home.

Refrigerators and freezers must be defrosted, drained, washed, and thoroughly dried out at least forty-eight (48) hours prior to moving to

avoid potential mildew problems. This is especially important when there is a possibility of storage.

Don’t turn off your telephone service until after your packing and

loading dates. At your new

destination, make every effort to have your service turned on prior to delivery.

Connecting and disconnecting major appliances (i.e., ice makers, gas dryers, gas ranges, hot tubs, etc.) require licensed technicians. The moving crew is not qualified to

handle this type of service. Please make prior arrangements before the crew arrives.

If your attic is only reachable by means of a ladder or folding

stairways, you must remove all items from the attic in advance. Our moving crews can remove items from walk-in attics or those reached by permanent stairways,

provided the attic has a safe, permanent floor.

All valuable possessions (i.e., art objects, antiques, etc.) should be appraised (at your cost) prior to the

move to establish their current value.

Make sure you complete the DECLARATION OF ITEMS OF EXTRAORDINARY VALUE &

YOUR GUIDE TO A SUCCESSFUL MOVEItems to Consider That Will Help You to Experience a Stress-Free Move.

FIREARMS form. Ask your Arpin representative for this form.

If you are moving out of an apartment or condominium, you may have to reserve an elevator, loading dock, or parking space for the moving van. If your building

manager requires a Certificate of Insurance from the van line, please notify your Arpin representative so they can provide this to the building manager.

Advise your Arpin representative if there will be any problems getting their vehicles close to your residence at your current or new residence.

Please clear walkways and driveways of snow and ice to improve access to your home in case of winter weather.

If possible, consolidate items not to

be moved into one room or area so they are not packed by mistake.

PACKING DAY

State and federal regulations prohibit the following items from

being transported with your household goods. Any questionable items should be discussed with your Arpin representative

Loaded firearms, explosives, flammable or combustible materials (i.e., ammunition, cleaning fluids, gasoline, kerosene, oil-based paints, varnish, etc.), liquid bleach

(or other items which, if spilled, could cause damage to your possessions), aerosol cans, propane tanks or canisters, contents of freezers, perishable

foods, plants, jewelry, money, hobby collections (i.e., stamps, coins, silver, gold), valuable documents, bonds, letters of credit,

deeds, tax information, fur coats, etc.

If you are delayed or will be late in

arriving at your residence on the date of service, please call us immediately so your Arpin representative can make alternate arrangements.

When the crew arrives, insist on making a walk-through of the residence. Point out what has to be packed, identify items not going, and go over any special concerns

you have.

Your Arpin representative will ask you to sign an “In Home Pre-Existing Condition Report” both at your current and new home during

your move. This document details the condition of the interior of the home prior to and after service by our crew.

Every packed carton should be

marked with your last name, the contents, and the room or location designation from where the items came. This will be extremely helpful at delivery when you decide where

the cartons should be placed.

LOADING

Accompany the driver as your belongings are being inventoried. Discuss any questions or concerns

you may have. Use the remarks section at the bottom of the inventory form if you would like to make any comments on the exceptions taken (i.e., pre-existing

damage).

If the driver disassembles any of your furniture, don’t hesitate to ask where the hardware will be placed. All loose pieces should be placed

in a plastic parts bag and placed in a parts box that is clearly labeled as such.

If you are shipping an automobile you should:

a. Keep the fuel level at no more

than ½ tank full.b.Carry an extra set of keys to the

vehicle with you.c. Give the driver a set of keys.d.Do not pack anything in the

vehicle.e. Wash your vehicle prior to

shipment.f. Assess the current condition (i.e.,

damage) and compare your

findings to the driver’s inventory to eliminate possible discrepancies.

Recheck the water lines where your washer and/or ice maker were

connected to make sure there is no leakage.

Do a final walk-through of your home with the movers to ensure all your possessions are loaded onto

the van.

Do not sign blank forms. Obtain thorough instructions and verify all forms are completed prior to signing.

If you feel uncomfortable or disagree with the actions of any of our loading personnel, please contact your Customer Care Representative immediately.

DELIVERY

You will be given a range of dates for delivery called a “delivery spread” prior to the start of your move that you will have to agree to in writing. As your

driver progresses, your Arpin representative should be able to narrow down your delivery date. However, it is critical that you are ready to accept delivery throughout the pre-determined

range of dates to avoid unnecessary storage of your goods and potential charges to you. As noted earlier, once

we have secured your moving dates, you will be sent a form outlining the agreed spread dates for delivery. You must sign this document and return it to your Arpin representative.

If you are planning to have items delivered into a self-storage unit, you must be prepared to protect those items. The driver will remove the furniture pads used to protect your belongings on the van.

Make every effort to have a telephone operational prior to delivery. If you have a cell phone, please provide this number to your Arpin

representative.

If you are moving into an apartment or condominium, you may have to reserve an elevator, loading dock, or parking space for the moving van in advance. Check with the building manager and let your Arpin representative know.

You or a representative you designate must be present for delivery to oversee the process and sign the documents accordingly.

Conduct a thorough walk-through with the driver prior to bringing any items into your new residence and go over where items should be placed.

Upon delivery, you or your representative must check off each item on the inventory to verify complete delivery of your possessions.

Have the driver unpack the items of extraordinary value so you and the driver can verify their condition.

Be prepared to replace washing machine hoses if they are not in good

condition. At a minimum, the rubber washers inside the hoses should be replaced to prevent a leak.

If you find items that are missing or damaged, be sure to record their condition on the inventory form in the “EXCEPTIONS AT DESTINATION” block. You can also use the “REMARKS” block at the

bottom of the page for additional comments.

If your move includes unpacking services, you must be available to supervise.

If you shipped a vehicle, thoroughly check it over in daylight if possible. If not, indicate on the paperwork that an appropriate inspection has not

taken place. Sign all inventory forms. This establishes the condition of your belongings upon delivery to your new location. The inventory is also the legal document used by an insurance adjuster to support your loss should you need to file a claim.
