EQUIPPING...
Becoming a part of the community of Resurrection has been an important experience in my life. I was basically done with church. Then, I found a group of people rooted in the great traditions of believers throughout the ages, yet as alive as could be. I found people who were okay with
questions and doubts and weren’t scared of not knowing everything. Most of all, I found people who really accepted me and welcomed me into their lives. —Matthew Flex

Words from Resurrection Members: I have experienced the love
and healing of God through his people + At our church, we see
the miracle of new life + I’m energized and encouraged by the
Holy Spirit’s presence every time we gather to worship + I’ve been
challenged to grow closer to Jesus as I meet more people who
clearly know him + Since I first walked through the doors, I began an
incredible journey of growth that rekindled my soul + Communion
every week reminds me of my need for Christ’s great sacrifice +
I am finding the heart of true, surrendered worship + I’m praying
that I can see many other people come to a full faith in Christ, and
thankful that my church equips me to see these conversations
through + Resurrection is a safe place + I came to Resurrection as a
broken man, and this church took the time to love me unconditionally
and administer the healing power of Jesus + Through the ministry
of Church of the Resurrection, I made a radical return to the
Lord and to his Church + Resurrection is a place of restoration
+ I received new friends, new perspective, new excitement, and
new growth in my walk of faith + When I come here, I meet Christ.

Resurrection has been blessed with an incredible season of growth and expansion. We praise God that we are seeing more adults and children transformed under our new roof. But to whom much is given, much is required. As we grow, we will focus even more on sending out workers to the harvest.

In 2011, we launched the REACH campaign: We set a goal of $4.5 million, and successfully raised $4.9 million.
73% of the congregation gave to Resurrection at the height of REACH.
This generosity resulted in a new home on Union Avenue.
24 ministries now meet weekly in our building; only 6 gathered in our previous space.

EQUIPPING EVERYONE FORTRANSFORMATION
We celebrate that the Lord has established a physical and spiritual sanctuary at 935 W. Union. Now, we at Resurrection are facing a pivotal crossroads: will we will settle into our safe haven, or will we equip our sanctuary to send out workers? To be moved by Jesus is to be moved out by Jesus. In Matthew 9, when Jesus is moved with compassion for the lost, he calls for the raising up of workers to go out into the harvest:
“And Jesus went throughout all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom and healing every disease and every affliction. When he saw the crowds, he had compassion for them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.” Matthew 9:35 –38

EQUIPPING EVERYONE FORTRANSFORMATION
Everyone—from the unbeliever to the mature Christian leader—must be equipped for their own personal transformation as well as for the work of transforming others.
Some of us will be sent out to plant churches for revival. Others of us will be apprenticed to start our own small groups, to lead children and youth, to create art, to reach the lost, and much more. Many of us will be equipped by worship and discipleship to be salt and light in our families, marketplace jobs, and schools.
LET US BE TRULY MOVED BY JESUS.HE IS EQUIPPING USFOR TRANSFORMATION.

The people of God are the only ones who can do the work of God. In order to do this work, we all need to be personally equipped by Jesus.
The word “equip” originally meant “to fit out a ship.” When a ship is equipped, it is readied to sustain a long, difficult journey to accomplish its purpose.
The only way that we can be equipped by Jesus is if we are in relationship with him. Dynamic worship of the living God and the apprenticing of children, youth, and adults are utterly key to equipping everyone for transformation.

$ 4.2 MILLION
When we moved into our building, we saw the number of ministries meeting weekly quadruple. At present, one-third of the building remains unfinished. Imagine the opportunities that await there.
Our children and youth ministries are facing urgent space limitations right now. Our current sanctuary production infrastructure is severely limited in its ability to house the arts events, additional worship services, and conferences that are essential to the ministry of transformation. Our passion to welcome new people through ministries like Alpha and Core is seriously hampered by unsuitable mid-sized spaces.
The time to equip our building is now.

When Jesus was moved, he was stirred by the needs of the harassed and the helpless. Our heart is the same: to see sheep without a shepherd brought into the fold of God.
At Resurrection, we believe that the local church is the way to reach those sheep, and that is why we are passionate about planting churches.
Children are the most vulnerable of these sheep. Replanted is a Resurrection ministry that equips
people to reach orphaned and abandoned children throughout Chicagoland. We want to
see these children placed in families where they can be transformed.

A TWO–YEAR JOURNEY
Together as a church, we want to give $7 million over the next two years to God’s mission at Resurrection:
+ Equipping Our People: $4.2 Million
+ Equipping Our Building: $1.8 Million
+ Equipping Our Mission: $1.0 Million
We will be focusing our collective generosity into one fund: a single fund that equips our people, our building, and our mission. Every aspect of this one-fund budget is utterly focused on God’s call to Resurrection to equip everyone for transformation. It is our hope that everyone at Resurrection will participate in giving.
16
A TWO–YEAR JOURNEY AN INVITATION TO PARTICIPATE
We are asking everyone at Resurrection to pray about how God is leading us to imitate him in sacrificial generosity. We want to have 100% of our members and regular attenders participate. We invite everyone to make a commitment to giving radically to the Lord through his church. As that happens, we believe we will reach our two-year goal of $7 million.
November 7: Advance Commitment Night Any Resurrection member who is ready to make an early commitment is invited.
November 15: Commitment Sunday Together as a church, we will consecrate our commitment cards to the Lord.
God has done incredible things through the generosity of this church in the past, and we eagerly anticipate what is to come.
