Any real BettyCrocker in Fiji?By SUZY GOODSELL

    In June 1955, our General

Mills publication “The ModernMillwheel” told the story of awoman in Canada who shared aniconic name.

“Never mind what you’veheard about Betty Crocker not

being any one person, or that sheis a composite of all the peopleworking in the Home Service De-

partment of Minneapolis. Therelives in Canada a young ladynamed Betty Crocker.”

We found out about her whena friend of a Canadian GeneralMills executive had a phone call

which went something like this:“Good evening, this is BettyCrocker. I’m calling about your

subscription to the Daily Star.”The real Miss Crocker was

invited to visit the Betty Crockerkitchens in Toronto and meetthe folks at the plant. MargaretOliver, who was in charge ofthe kitchen, had a nice visit withBetty and talked her into stayingfor lunch.
