PALM SUNDAYOF THE PASSION OF THE LORD

April 9th, 2017

Fr.Juan’sFlintstone PedernaldeP.JuanDikaiosis. This word "indicates the act of declaring

something fair:" justification", acquittal, absolution, to do just to someone who was not , absolving him/her from the guilt of the evil he/she did. Justification comes as a result of God's initiative with us through his grace, and through our faith in the shed blood of Jesus Christ. This is what the following scriptures affirm: • "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of

God, being jus fied freely by his grace through the redemp on which is in Christ Jesus" (Romans 3: 23-24).

• "But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. For much more, being jus fied in his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him "(Rom. 5: 8-9).

• The apostle James emphasized that good works will accompany and should unite the faith of the righteous man / woman: "But do you want to know, vain man, that faith without works is dead? Was not Abraham our father justified when he offered his son Isaac on the altar? Do you not see that faith acted together with his works, and that faith was perfected by works? And the scripture was fulfilled which says: Abraham believed God, and was accounted righteous, and was called a friend of God. You see, then, that a man is justified by works, and not by faith alone "(James 2: 20-24).

• Jesus Christ obeyed the Law perfectly, in its spiritual implication. He wants our life with him also to be in accordance with the law, in obedience and justice. God has parameters by which a "righteous" man must live, living a life of obedience and faith. So finally, "those who hear the law are not righteous before God, but those who live will be justified" (Romans 2:13)

The King will respond: "I tell you that everything you did for one of my brothers, even for the smallest, did it for me." (Matthew 25: 31-46). LIVE THE PASSION AND RESURRECTION! Fr. Juan

dikaiosis.

(Mateo 25:31-46 ). VIVAN LA PASION Y RESURRECCION! P.Juan

TREASURES FROM OUR TRADITION Now we have come to the center of the Christian year, beginning with today, Passion Sunday, Holy Week, and culminating in the Pasch, the Sacred Triduum. Some have called the culminating event in this week’s journey of faith “The Three Days of Easter.” The origins of many of our observances, including today’s blessing of palms and solemn entry into the church, hearken back to old Jerusalem. In the late fourth century, a woman living a consecrated life in southern France made a four-year pilgrimage to Jerusa-lem. There, she encountered the rich liturgies of the city, bursting with Christians. She was a keen observer, and fortunately for us wrote vivid letters of her experience to a circle of women friends she calls her sisters. By the time of her journey, it is clear that even some catechumens were undertaking the dangerous journey so that they could be formed at the very site of the events of Christ’s passion and rising. At the heart of the pilgrim experience were processions, such as today’s joyous procession to the Mount of Olives, and brilliant catechesis from the bishop every day, as well as intense fasting and prayer. When you resolve to keep this week holy in your own life, and especially when you commit to participate in the full Tridu-um with worship in church and fasting at home, a very ancient tradition is within your grasp.—Rev.

No me siento avergonzado (Isaías 50:4-7). Salmo — Dios mío, Dios mío, ¿por qué me has abandonado? (Salmo 22 [21]).
