In November 2011, the Government passed the Localism Act;
the aim of which is to facilitate the devolution of decision-making powers from central government control to individuals and communities. This means that each community has the ability to shape how it evolves. The Neighborhood Development Plan (NDP) is your way of documenting what Morton should look like, for you, your children, and their children’s children - without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. An ‘adopted’ Neighborhood Plan is a statutory planning policy document by law and MUST be taken into consideration when future planning applications are proposed within the area. YOU can help decide what this Parish wants/needs in the next 15-20 years. This survey/questionnaire is your chance to influence what your NDP should include, specifically around key planning issues: Influence the level, type and location of future developments The design of new buildings and spaces The protection of our Village facilities The preservation and enhancement of our Historic Environment Protecting our important Landscape character Encouraging new and improved Infrastructure to the area. It is important to express by the survey/questionnaire how your household view the Parish, the amenities you use and what you would like to see in the area for the future. Hopefully we can get enough interest in the Neighborhood Plan to help carry this forward. I do have a copy of the Morton Neighborhood plan questions, I do intend to put this on-line but if you want a copy the email me at the address on the front page of the MCN and I will send you a copy.

A packed house of over 130 were treated to a spectacu-lar show on Saturday evening at Morton village hall. A team of thirty six, very talented students from the Trinity Performing Arts theatre group wowed the appreciative audience with their singing, dancing and comedic introductions. They performed music of the Beatles, Ellie Goulding, Pink, Kiki Dee and from a range of West End shows, including Grease, Little Shop of Horrors, Les Miserables, Wicked, School of Rock and many more, with a confidence and professionalism beyond their years. Remember when their names appear in lights in the West End and Broadway, you saw them here first.

Well I had hoped to begin this month’s update with spring finally having made an appearance, but I think the recent snow has firmly put paid to that! Whilst the adverse weather delayed the beginning of our Barnabas Brew campaign, we are hoping to still make a real impact with Brew’s stretching right across the county. If you would like to get involved, there is still plenty of time as the resources for holding a Barnabas Brew are accessible on www.stbarnabashospice.co.uk all year round. [email protected]. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx We are excited that our annual Colour Dash is back again this year but with a new and exciting twist. The paint stations you know and love will still be there and will be joined with inflatable obstacles at each kilometre, meaning this is event is sure to be the biggest and brightest Colour Dash yet! The Inflatable Colour Dash is a five-kilometre un-timed fun run where you will be showered from head to toe in a vibrant colour at each kilometre. You can choose to run, walk, skip or dance your way around the course. The obstacles are optional! The Inflatable Colour Dash takes place on Saturday 12th May at the Lincolnshire Showground and is all about having fun with your friends and family. Why not sign up now and join in with the fun? We are very grateful to Darren at D1 Sports Therapy Ltd and Mel and Gavin from Absolute Body Sculpt both in Gainsborough, who have kindly sponsored our Violet colour station. Darren said: “The reason for me is that when my wife was suffering from cancer we used to visit the centre in Lincoln before she passed away in 2016, so I’ve experienced first-hand the fantastic work that you do there. It’s a horrible disease that takes life regardless of age, sex, and colour. The more we support the fantastic work that you do, the more you can do to help the patients and families who are going through this horrible time. ”Mel added: “We are wanting to support St Barnabas this year as you continually care for those who are living with a life-limiting or terminal illness. Many people now like to be cared for in their own homes. This way they get to spend precious time with their loved ones, which wouldn’t always be possible without the care and support that you offer the whole family. ”It is only with the support of those in our local communities that we are able to continue to deliver care and support to our patients, their families and carers at what is often the most difficult time in their lives. If there are any local businesses that may be interested in finding out about the different ways they too can support their local Hospice, I would love to hear from you! Once again our sincere thanks to everyone at both D1 Sports Therapy Ltd and Absolute Body Sculpt for their support. To get in touch, call me on 07435 970309 or email [email protected]
