Dear Parents / CarersStudent illnessesVery recently we have had cases of students with Scarlett Fever http://www.health.nsw.gov.au/Infectious/factsheets/Pages/childhood.aspx#scarIf your child has any type of illness, it is most important to keep them at home and see a doctor. Included in this newsletter is a six page document from NSW Health containing information about a range of childhood infectious diseases. I urge you to read it. Mullumbimby Show success!A mighty congratulations to two up and coming talented musicians Lev and Tahlia who performed with distinction at the Mullumbimby Show winning their ukulele section and collecting $100 prize money for their efforts. Christmas time: think family! Summer is a lovely time together, and Christmas is special family time. When you’re thinking of gifts, consider ideas that bring the whole family together in fun:

- Does everyone have a bike? Does the bike need accessories: helmet, bell, tassels, basket?

- Board games are a fabulous way to spend some time as a family

- Towels for the beach or pool or river, creek or dam

- A magnifying glass and drawing pad to go exploring the backyard plants and animals

- Healthy recipe book for family fun in the kitchen

- Craft and painting on an outside table (in the shade, and don’t forget sun protection!)

- Is it a good time for you and your child to learn the lifelong skills of washing the car, vacuuming, washing up and cleaning the bathroom together?

Library News – Week 7During the week a large number of students were given an overdue book notice. This notice is in a new format which allows us to post notices or send them out via email. If you receive one of these notices please do not be alarmed to see that a cost has been listed. It is not a bill but more so an indication of the value of the book/s.As always if you or your child strongly believes that the book/s have been returned to the library please make a note of that on the overdue notices and return it to me so I can make a more thorough search on the shelves. It is particularly important that Year 6 students return their books as student end of records can not be finalised for those who have outstanding books. If you have any concerns or queries in this regard please do not hesitate to contact me at school. Sue Austin, Teacher-Librarian.

Mullum’s Got TalentEvery year on the last day of school, Friday 16th December, we hold a talent show for all our very talented singers, musicians, magicians, comedians and actors to showcase their performance skills. Students need to have their music and costumes, if any, organised and, especially the music, ready for the auditions which will be held on Friday, 2nd December at lunchtime in the hall. Although I try to have some time with each act to practise, it is the student’s responsibility to be ready on the day.The “Mullum’s Got Talent” show starts at 9am in the hall beginning with our Kinder and Stage 1 children followed by Stage 2 and 3. If your child would like to perform at the show please fill in the note which has been sent home and return to the office by the day of the auditions, Friday, 2nd December. Thanks Bu Marshall

Quick healthy bite size finger foodKids have confirmed for us that a big reason they don’t eat their lunch is because they are in a rush to get out and play. Kids want small bite size pieces so they can eat quickly. So think about packing no fuss finger food – there are plenty of cheap and healthy everyday options available. Here’s some quick ideas.
