This book contains enjoyable and interesting activities togive children extra practice in written and spoken language.Working TogetherAlthough your child is already able to readand write, it is still helpful, and much morefun, if you go through the book together.Talk about the instructions before the childbegins. Provide extra paper so that he or shecan repeat the exercise using different examples. One way of making sure that a child hasunderstood the work is to ask him or her toset a similar exercise for you and then mark it.SpellingMany of the activities are to help with spelling. One of thebest ways of practising is called LOOK-SAY-COVER-WRITE- CHECK. The child looks carefully at the word and says italoud. Then he or she covers up the word and writes it.Finally the word is checked. Use this method for any wordsthat your child finds difficult.Remember that although English skills arevery, very important, playing with languagecan be great fun, too!

PLEASE NOTE THAT IDEASFOR THE GAMES ON THECENTRE CARD ARE GIVENAT THE BACK OF THIS BOOK.
