WHY UPGRADE TO MOODLE 2?

• Moodle 2 included functionality that our users were asking for

• Staff training and development

• Opportunity to enhance our Moodle theme

• Web services - allowed us to pull information to student portal (SharePoint)


AUTOMATIC COURSE CREATION & STUDENT ENROLMENTS

Moodle Modules is a web application that sits between the student record system SITS and Active Directory.

Moodle modules dictates what modules are created within Moodle and assigns tutor roles.

SIMPLY COURSE IMPORT

• Modified the course import process in Moodle to allow a ‘copy everything from previous year option’

• Displays the course with a similar course id number


STUDENT PORTAL INTEGRATION

• Assignment information is pulled through in to the student portal which is powered by SharePoint

• A web service was written to display assignment information


MOVING FORWARD...

• Course creation to be done in the student records system (SITs) to allow integration with the Moodle grade book

• Bulk upload of assignments

• Integrate lecture capture software and media hosting platform
