Launch of HYD F RSc skill centre of READ India under AmAZON cares in Hyderabad

On 11th September 2018 HYDF RSC skill centre of READ IndiawaslaunchedinChitkulvillageofHyderabadunderAmazonCares.

The launchwasconducted in thepresenceoftheAmazonleadershipteam including Mr. Hemant, Mr.Shashank, Ms. Manisha and Mr.Leo.Dr. GeetaMalhotra (CountryDirector,READIndia)andthestaffofREADIndiawerepresentfortheinaugurationofthenewcentre.

HYD F RSC centre is located in3 villages- Chitkul, GanapatiGudem, Bachuguda with themainofficeinChitkul.Thecentrecomprises of a well-equippedlibraryencouragingthepeopleofthe community towards readingand writing and enhancing theirknowledge.

Training is provided for stitchingandsewingtothewomenofallthe3villagesfocussedinempoweringwhichfurthergivesthemawaytoearnalivelihood.

Awareness Session on Waste managementAnawarenesssessiononwaste–managementwasconductedattheREADIndiacentresunderAmazonCaresatTaoru,ManesarandSonipatforthebeneficiariesasapartofthevolunteeringopportunities.Thesessionaimedtoteachthebeneficiariesaboutdifferentwaystomanagewaste:RECYCLE,REUSE,REDUCE.TheyweretaughttheimportanceofthreeR’sandwhymanagingwasteinapropermannerisofgreatimportance.

awareaboutit,HealthcampswereorganisedattheREADIndiacentre under Perkins in Karmad, Maharashtra for women andadolescents to see the haemoglobin level in adolescents andwomen.AlongwiththecentrethecampwasalsoorganisedatthegovernmentschoolsofGadejalgoanandDudhad.

The objective of the camps were to create awareness amongwomen and adolescents about Anemia and the importance ofironandwaystoimproveHaemoglobin,theywerealsosuggestedaboutthelocallyavailablefoodrichiniron.

They can establish their ownenterpriseslikepublishinghouses,theycandoPhotoshopandvideoshootinginvariousevents.Iftakenfurtherthebeneficiariescanworkas CPT operator. The life skillstrainings develops the overallpersonalityofanindividual,givesthemconfidenceandtheybecomeself–aware.

On 28th September 2018 the completion of 5 years of IndianPublic LibraryMovementwas celebrated at India International

centre. NASSCOM as one of the partners of IPLM invited thebeneficiariesofTeG(TechnologyEmpoweringGirls)fortheeventto encourage andmotivate the students. The TeG beneficiaries

were fromall the librariesofREADIndiaatMandirMarg,KakaNagar,DistrictLibraryGurgaon,LaxmiBaiNagarandREADIndiaCentreatWazirabadwereinvitedforthisevent.Theparticipationofthebeneficiariesinthiseventgavethemagoodexposureandboostedtheirconfidence.

orientationonskillstosucceedProgramme2018-19,introductorysessiononmoduleofMarketingandNetworking,Discussiononbenefitsandchallengesforhavingstringnetworking/partnerships.TheparticipatingtrainerswerefromRampur,Chhainsa,JhajjarandREADIndiaModelcenterDwarka.Session2wasconductedon24thand25thSeptemberwhichincludedmodulesonMarketingskillsandsaleswhichwastakenbyExpertResourcePersonMr.Rakesh Sahni. The participating trainers were from Jaffrabad,Wazirabad,Baran(Kelwada),Geejgarh(Rajasthan)andNoida.

Education on Road Safety can encourage us to take necessary

action to be safe and secure while we travel. Keeping theimportanceofawarenessonRoadSafety inmindanawarenesssessionwasconductedatHyderabadbyMr.AmarfromAmazonFCandatNihalgarhGovernmentSchool,TaorubytheVolunteersMr.Abhijeet,Mr.NishantandMs.SwatifromAmazonFC.Thesessioncovered Basic RoadRules, General Traffic Signals, and Rules toensuresafetyforkids.Thissessionprovedtobeveryinformativeandcreatedacertainamountofawarenessforthestudentsandteacherspresentforthesession.

Volunteering opportunity conducted at READ India centres under Amazon cares

VolunteeringopportunitiesareconductedeverymonthatREADIndiacentresunderAmazonCares setting a platformfor the direct interactionof the volunteers from theAmazon FC’s to interactwith the beneficiaries andconductvariousinformativeand interactive sessions.A volunteering event wasorganised on the themeCareer Guidance in whichthe students were guidedabout the existing streamslike science, commerce andHumanities or Arts. Theywere also told about thecareer options available forthemaftereachstreamtheytake up according to theirinterests.Studentswerealsogiveninformationaboutthegovernmententrancetests.

RuKSANAShe is Rukhsana from Jafarabad. She belongs to a middle classfamily.Shenevergotachancetogotoschoolbecauseofherfamilyconditions.Shewasraisedinacultureinwhichherparentsdidn’tallowhertogotoschoolbutshealwayswantedtogotoschoolandstudy.Shealwayslackedconfidenceandhesitatedinspeakingwiththeothers.ShegottoknowabouttheTCSAdultLiteracyProgramfromoneoftheInstructorsandthatthisprogramisteachingUrduaswell. Rukhsana alwayswanted to learnUrdu and towrite hersignatureinUrdu.

After Completing the Adult Literacy Program, she feels that shehas made some productive changes in her life like, Increase inconfidence,public speakinghas improved.Earlierwhensheusedtogototheparentteachermeetingofherchildrenshehesitatedintalkingwiththeteacherbutnowshefeelsmorecomfortablewhiletalkingtotheteacher.Now,shecansignhersignatureandtriestohelpherchildrenwiththeirhomeworkaswell.ShehasalsobeentryingtoteachherchildrenUrdulanguage.

ShebelievesthatshecanbeaninstructorofUrdulanguagethatiswhyshewantsto learnmoresothatshecanteachotherwomen.SheisreallyverythankfultoREADIndiaandTCSforgivingherthisopportunity.
